Tana Mongeau has sparked a heated debate after choosing a controversial public figure for her Halloween costume, with some people laughing at the impersonation and others accusing her of going too far.
The 28-year-old influencer recently recreated one of Erika Kirk’s viral looks from earlier this year, drawing widespread attention online.
Erika is the widow of Charlie Kirk, who was fatally attacked at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University in September 2025.
“She is so pathetic! She’ll do anything for attention… How cruel and unnecessary,” one netizen criticized Tana’s latest move.

On Sunday, October 25, Tana Mongeau shared a now-viral Instagram video in which she transformed herself into Erika Kirk, the CEO of conservative organization Turning Point USA.
Mongeau wore an all-black satin button-up shirt and a plain black baseball cap.
She completed the look with a blonde ponytail, a studio microphone, and the unwavering gaze that made Kirk’s original appearance so widely discussed.

Mongeau also mimicked Erika’s intense facial expressions and delivery, staring directly into the camera and making exaggerated breathing sounds into the microphone.
The inspiration came from Kirk’s nearly 10-minute YouTube address, titled A Message From Erika Kirk, which was published on April 30, 2026.
In the video, the widow addressed online speculation surrounding her husband’s passing and responded to criticism of her public grieving.
Tana herself seemed to anticipate that her choice might not sit well with everyone.
Viewers are divided over the costume, with some laughing at the parody and others calling it “cruel to mock a grieving widow”

Alongside the video, she wrote, “I feel like I should immediately apologize for this, but I’m not sure if I’m sorry so…”
Reactions to her Halloween costume were far from unanimous.
Some viewers enjoyed the attempt to recreate Kirk’s viral persona, while others were uncomfortable with the idea of turning a grieving widow into a Halloween punchline.
One critic firmly wrote, “This is not funny. So messed up!”

Another user commented, “Yet another nobody trying to clout chase off a widow.”
“I do agree that everything Erika has done has been pretty bizarre, BUT that does not excuse the disgusting behavior of all the haters mocking her, especially when it’s not even memeable,” a third commenter wrote.
Another viewer wrote, “Tana… this isn’t very girlhood of you. Like love ya, but this just feels like it’s against your brand…”

Others were less forgiving, saying, “No talent, mean and unnecessary!”
Others questioned whether Tana had captured the look convincingly enough for the parody to work.
“Nahhh the eyes have to be crazier… Wider eyes wider,” one person commented.
“I’m mad too. Dressing up like Erika and still not being able to look as crazy…” another wrote.

Someone else simply remarked, “Scary eyes. She screams Halloween.”
“Tana, you win Halloween this year! I loved you before, BUT NOW I LOVE YOU 1000X more,” one comment read.
Another person laughed at the comparison between the two women, commenting, “She looks more normal than the actual Erika Kirk imo.”
Erika had become a prominent public figure after Charlie Kirk was fatally struck with a firearm at a Turning Point USA event in September last year.
Netizens point out one detail missing from Tana’s parody that could have made her Erika impersonation even better

She later became CEO of the organization he led, placing her at the center of public and political attention.
Since then, her appearances and public statements have attracted sharply contrasting reactions from viewers.
Mongeau’s video also arrived after other online parodies of Kirk had gained attention, including comedian Druski’s earlier impersonation of a conservative woman whose exaggerated mannerisms drew comparisons to Erika.
In the viral March 2026 video, Druski wore heavy prosthetics, a blonde wig, and makeup to transform into a white woman in a sprawling, multi-scene satirical skit.
The skit was explicitly captioned, “How Conservative Women in America Act.”
The video kicked off with Druski in a white suit, walking onto a stage flanked by massive, over-the-top pyrotechnic sparklers, directly spoofing one of Erika’s public onstage entrances.

Druski also mimicked Kirk’s intense, unblinking facial expressions while sitting in a podcast setup and holding a Bible.
Druski’s video sparked a major political backlash at the time, with several MAGA and conservative commentators criticizing him for allegedly crossing the line into offensive mockery of a grieving widow.
As of this writing, Erika has not publicly reacted to Tana’s Halloween costume depicting her.
“This is sick that people think it’s funny to make fun of someone because their husband was m**dered!” one user fumed
