No, Sylvester Stallone won’t be playing Rocky but come on. Rocky III is a classic and I had to put up a picture of him raising his fists in a victorious manner. Anyway, after weeks of speculating as to what role Sylvester Stallone would be playing in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, it’s now officially been confirmed that he is indeed playing Stakar, also known as Starhawk This is the role he was rumored to play but today it’s been officially announced via CBM. Here’s the info that was revealed in the press notes regarding the role:
“A lifelong respected Ravager, Stakar isn’t fond of Yondu. Sylvester Stallone offers the character’s back story: “Stakar has banished Yondu many years earlier for doing something wrong and he finally sees him almost twenty years later at this particular establishment called Iron Lotus where all of the Ravagers go to blow off steam. And then we have a confrontation which is pretty intense and it’s kind of a father/son type thing and now he’s going to have to pay the piper. His karma has come back ten-fold.”
Anyone up for a Stakar and Yondu battle? That’s what it looks like we’re headed for. There’s still no word on who Michael Rosenbaum is playing, but there’s speculation that he could be playing Quasar. Most of the roles for the film have been finalized but we’ll keep you in the loop with any updates.
