If Sabotage by the Beastie Boys was made to work for Star Trek then it can certainly be used in a much better way by integrating it with Solo: A Star Wars Story. Quite honestly it melds better with the idea of Han Solo than it does with a galaxy run by the Federation in many ways since while it was a lifesaver for those people stuck on the station in Star Trek, it’s definitely more of a vehicle for the emotion and action within the Solo movie that’s going to hit theaters this coming Memorial Day. It would seem that Star Wars is going to try and dominate the beginning of the summer rather than wait for December, at least this year.
There are a few standalone movies that people have been waiting for however when it comes to Star Wars and Solo has been one of the most anticipated since word was released that it would be in production. It’s hit quite a few snags along the way, so maybe Sabotage really is a great idea to add to the film’s soundtrack just be ironic. Of course things have been ironed out since Ron Howard came onto the scene and started working his magic on the movie to make it possible to be released this coming May. While he harbored no ill will towards the two directors that left Howard had a lot that was heaped on his shoulders when it came to getting the movie done the way the producers wanted it and completed in a way that made sense.
The Han Solo story is one that fans have been wanting for a while since Solo is one of the most popular characters and as a retired character in the franchise now deserves an origin story so as to keep him alive for at least another movie. Even if the Game of Thrones directors manage to bring their supposed new trilogy to the Star Wars universe you know that there won’t be anymore Solo’s making their way across the screen since it’s already been announced that the films would be veering away from the Skywalker line, which means that the next Star Wars episode is going to be ending that particular bloodline one way or another. Solo however is a chance to see the galaxy’s greatest pilot and burgeoning smuggler before he became the cocky young ace that enlisted in the Imperial Navy and was eventually booted out.
That’s right, Solo was a part of the Empire for a short time until he decided that he’d had enough. If memory serves his final mission ended in disaster when he stopped an Imperial officer from beating a wookie prisoner with a neuronic whip. That wookie turned out to be Chewbacca, who swore a life debt to Han and forged a friendship that would take them both to new places they hadn’t seen yet. There’s a lot more to the story that I won’t bother revealing since there’s no telling just how much of the canon will make it in and how much will have been changed.
I can’t stand it, I know they planned it.
