Maybe it’s because I watched The Fly the other day but I guess it’s just a topic one doesn’t think of often. It doesn’t happen a lot in movies but when it does, it’s usually pretty cool. I’m referring to arm wrestling. You’d be surprised at some of the cool stuff an arm wrestling scene can elicit. Sometimes it’s unintentional comedy, whereas others it’s complete and total surprise. Either way, it’s way cooler than arm wrestling in real life which to me a. hurts and is b. boring and painful.
Here are 7 great arm wrestling moments in movies
Over The Top
Can I just say that Bull Hurley just might be my favorite villain in any movie ever? Dude’s barely got any lines and he’s just awesome. Easily one of the best mustaches in movie history. Come on man. In real life he would own Lincoln Hawk. “I own you! I owwwnnnnnn youuuuu!” Personally I like the other arm wrestling scenes better than this but this is great.
Predator
Could there ever be a more blatant male scene than this? The glint of sweat on their arms? The manly discussion as the arm wrestling is taking place. This is hilarious when you really think about it. Probably one of the most memorable scenes in Predator. And as a guy, yeah I’m jealous of those guns.
Revenge of the Nerds
Obviously the highlight from Revenge of the Nerds is anything involving Booger (Curtis Armstrong). What an all time classic character this guy is.
Vision Quest
I couldn’t find the arm wrestling scene but these two arm wrestle twice in the movie. Both times they’re in the kitchen of the hotel that Louden works in. They have their little philosophical questions. But I had to post something right? And this just happens to be one of my favorite scenes in any movie ever.
The Fly
Can I go on record in saying this is one of the most disgusting movies ever? Too much puss and gore. I get goose bumps just thinking about it. And this scene sure as hell doesn’t help.
Ricochet
You don’t see the arm wrestling in this video but there’s a scene when John Lithgow kidnaps Denzel Washington and drugs him at a pool. Beforehand though, they begin to arm wrestle at which point Lithgow injects him with heroin.
Superman II
Never mess with a Kryptonian. Best part of this scene if you can remember it? Listen to the song in the background. It’s Picking up the Pieces by Average White Band which become super popular after the movie Swingers. It’s also the song at the very end of the movie when Superman kicks that guys butt in the diner.
