The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 4 Reunion Pt. #1 Review (Mark’s Point of View)

The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 4 Reunion Pt. #1 Review (Mark’s Point of View)Wow… Where do I even begin?

Tonight was the first installment of the epic three-part Real Housewives of Atlanta Season Four Reunion and alone it was easily one of the best reunions of the entire Real Housewives franchise. Period.

Since fellow TVO colleague and Real Housewives of Atlanta fan Shilo Adams has just as much to say about this explosive train wreck as I do, you can expect his take on the reunion tomorrow. But for now, I’m going to give you my first impressions and wait till all three parts of the reunion air before I give an in-depth review of not only the reunions, but the season as well. So again… where to begin?

After a pretty lackluster season, the first installment of the Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion delivered on all cylinders and was a far cry from last year’s snoozefest of a reunion. The women had plenty of ammo in their arsenal and if words could physically cut, the stage would have most certainly been drenched with blood.

Amongst the discussion in the first hour, Andy Cohen brought up the NeNe vs. Sheree fight, the Sheree vs. Phaedra drama, NeNe leaving Kandi’s Sex Toy party abruptly, and other incidents that became fodder for the women to shout, curse, and “educate” each other over all while looking ‘fabulous.’ In short, it was freaking fantastic!

The first battle of the night came between NeNe and Kandi over the sex party and NeNe’s aversion to Kandi’s sex talk. I felt that NeNe was being a bit much about the ordeal and could see why Kandi would be offended by Ms. Leake’s abrupt exit from the party. What I didn’t agree with was Kandi using NeNe’s stripper past to catch her in an hypocritical lie. Why? Because it seems as if the women love to dig into NeNe’s past to get her to back off, but the only thing it does is enrage her even more. In other words, find another means of attack.

Next was the Phaedra vs. Sheree argument, which made Sheree look like an even bigger fool than she did on the actual show. On the flip side, Phaedra handled the argument with ease and respect, never raising her voice or stooping to Sheree’s level disrespectful. With crocodile tears on deck, Sheree tried to come across as a victim in the matter, accusing Phaedra of not doing her job as a lawyer and “playing with her life.” Really?! That’s simply not cool on so many levels, but Phaedra conceded by giving Sheree the crown for the “Queen of Throwing People Under the Bus” when necessary. The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 4 Reunion Pt. #1 Review (Mark’s Point of View)I thought the title fit perfectly.

Later, Andy Cohen brought up NeNe’s infamous “I’m Very Rich!” line, which lead from NeNe and Sheree arguing over their financial situations to Sheree pulling a low blow by bringing up NeNe’s son Bryce’s arrest for shoplifting into the mix. If I have learned anything from my coverage of all things Real Housewives related and just life in general, you do not bring someone’s kids into the battle. I don’t care how old they are, if said child was in the wrong about anything, etc. Children should be off-limits. Sheree crossed the line, stepped on a grenade and was immediately silenced when NeNe took her to task. Notice that Sheree didn’t say too much after that blow up, and I think it was wise for her to stay silent. Can’t wait to see how she handles the “black baby in Africa” incident.

Finally, the last big argument came after a viewer’s question asked the cast if they thought NeNe changed for the better or worse as the season progressed and with all the guest roles falling her way. This opened up a fight between NeNe and Kim, which I’m sure fans of each lady have itched for since the season began. After NeNe declared that she “didn’t give a sh*t” about anything the other women were doing, Kim countered that claim by asking if that was the case, then why was NeNe tweeting about Kim renting instead of owning her house? Well, Kim, everyone knew that and I also tweeted that as well. That doesn’t mean that I seriously give a crap about what you are doing, though. Especially during this season.

As I said, this was just hour one the Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion. Lord knows what will happen during the next two hours. What am I saying? It will be just as carzy and even wilder than before.

Other Highlights of Note:

– During the entire hour, it seemed as if NeNe was completely over the entire Real Housewives thing and was looking for the cue to go and the nearest exit. If an announcement drops between now and this fall about NeNe leaving the show, I wouldn’t be surprised.

– Kandi has a new man, who happens to be a (the?) production manager for the show. They plan on moving into a bg new house together, which means it must be pretty serious. However, I bet with him working as part of the production team for the show, we probably won’t get a chance to see him next year either. Maybe.

– Kim is in fact 4 months pregnant and she will finally buy the house she stays in next month.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 4 Reunion Pt. #1 Review (Mark’s Point of View)– We didn’t get much out of Phaedra or Cynthia tonight, but the next installment will feature Peter so Cynthia will get her moment to shine come Thursday.

– NeNe: “I don’t care if I stripped when I was 20, 30, or 40, I don’t want a dildo up my ass today!” Phaedra? Dig up my plot and pick out my casket cause I was officially “DEAD” when this was uttered by Linnethea Leakes tonight.

– Also, NeNe dubbing Chateau Sheree as “NeverLand” was just genius.

– Notice how when Cynthia tried to say how kids should be off-limits, Kim jumped in to counter?

– Finally, why did Kim use Kandi’s financial status to shut NeNe up? Here’s what I really want to know: Did Kim contribute to Kandi’s riches by finally paying her for “Don’t Be Tardy For the Party? Man, I wish Andy had of asked that question…

So that was the first part of the Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion. Don’t forget that the next installment airs this Thursday @9/8c and will feature Marlo and Peter, so expect even more sparks to fly this time around. Stay tuned for Shilo Adam’s take on the reunion, because he is not going to be nice as I was in terms of “throwing shade.”

What were your favorite moments of the reunion? Sound off below!
