We all have our ways of dealing with emotional stress. Whether it’s doing something productive to take our mind off of things or we stress-eat our worries away. In this week’s episode of Scorpion, the team handles their emotional stress in the way they know best.
The hour began with Agent Gallo leaving paper bags on the desks of Team Scorpion. Each contains a special gift from the Homeland agent as a way to show them how much they mean to him. For Happy, it’s an old hammer. For Toby, it’s a fedora that once belonged to Agent Gallo’s father. Sylvester got a figurine from the show Chair of Blades, Paige received a book on tech speak. Walter got an old letter that Agent Gallo wrote for the former’s visa application. It was a heart-warming moment for them, and I almost shed a tear watching that ending scene.
The case of the week, though equally heart-warming, served as a much-needed distraction from the main event: Agent Gallo’s trial. A diabetic dog fell down an old cistern after getting away from its owner. I want to say “that’s karma for you” though after looking at the trapped puppy’s face, my heart melted. After a couple of failed attempts at rescue, the team managed to save Monty (the dog) by plugging the underground drain with cement and filling the cistern with water from an abandoned water tank along with car exhaust to lift the animal up.
In the case of the trial, that had me on the edge of my seat. I knew in the back of my mind that Agent Gallo is innocent, but I couldn’t help but feel nervous as the evidence presented is against him rather than for him. Sylvester tried his best to prove the Homeland agent’s innocence, and despite messing up in the beginning, he ended up succeeding by citing an old case involving a ship captain releasing the prisoners that he was transporting so the latter could live. I felt sorry for Toby and Florence when they got arrested for speeding and evading arrest. At least they got community service instead of jail time, so everything worked out for the best.
Final Thoughts:
Kudos to Paige for talking sense into the geniuses. It was unsettling to see Toby doing daredevil things, Happy berating herself and Walter stress-eating. Although watching Walter stuff his face was rather amusing.
I blinked in confusion when Toby started dancing in front of the fire truck that he stopped. I get that it’s to calm the angry firefighters down, but it was kind of awkward to watch.
When Sylvester electrocuted Judge Talbertson (guest star Don Stark) with the ankle cuff to prove a point, my eyes went wide. Good thing the human calculator didn’t get punished for what he did or else we would need another lawyer to help with Agent Gallo’s case.
It was sweet of Team Scorpion to try to help their friend with his trial. They wanted to create a calm environment so that the proceedings would go smoothly and painlessly. Their efforts were for naught as the judge that was initially assigned to preside over the trial had to leave for a minor family emergency. At least they tried.
The part where Agent Gallo consoled Sylvester made me smile. Even as he faced what could be dire consequences, he still offers comfort to those he cares about. Agent Cabe Gallo, you sir, are awesome!
