The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills 1.13 “Unforgivable” Review

No words can describe how much my world was overturned after watching tonight’s season finale of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Not in a literal sense, but in the way that just when you think you “know” everything, the rug was completely pulled off from under you. While I’m still reeling over the final scenes of the night, I will try my best to sum up the events the best way possible.

First, let’s start wit what is really on everyone’s mind: the huge fight between Kim and Kyle Richards, which trumps anything the Real Housewives franchise has ever thrown at us. This fight wasn’t between a simulated group of friends, it was a fight between two sisters that were carrying baggage way before the Bravo producers came knocking on their doors. The fight wasn’t “good” or worthy of an “OMG! Did you see what happened on RHOBH last night?!” vibe. It was embarassing and it was painful to even sit nd watch. Seriously, it will be hard to watch that argument in repeats of the episode.

As much as I (and most, if not all, of America) loves Kyle Richards when it comes to her battles with Camille Grammer, but when it comes to Kim that’s a totally different story. All season long, I’ve been wondering why Kyle treated her older sister like her younger sister, or one of her kids, rather. I still don’t have a clear concise answer, but I’m wondering if it’s resentment brought on from her mother’s dying wish to look after her. It’s here where I have to ask where is Kathy Hilton in this equation? Is Kathy not as nurturing or tolerant when it comes to Kim’s problems? Either way, if Kim does in fact have a problem (and it looks like she does to some extent), then I don’t think belittling her in front of everyone is the way to go to make her life better.

Another thing that irked me during the latter part of the episode was how Kyle was more worried about Taylor’s party being ruined than her sister’s well-being, especially when the guilty party was Taylor. Granted Kyle didn’t know this at the time, but it’s still telling how Kyle went to Taylor’s defense quicker than her own sister’s. Adrienne saw this from a mile away, metaphorically and literally. While Kyle is right about Adrienne (and all of America) not knowing the full facts of what’s going on, it is still apparent that there are issues between the two sisters and they stem more than what was let on.

Speaking of which, the limo scene shined a light on some of the issues at hand, but most of it sounds like resentment coming from both parties. It’s a shame to find out that Kim is allegedly an alcoholic, which was kind of hinted at when Kim came to Taylor’s party. Kyle and Lisa’s reactions only helped support the theory. With that skeleton out of the closet, it’s only a matter of time for Kim’s issues to trump those of Camille Grammer’s in the media by the airing of the reunion show next week.

Let’s take the conversation to what brought on the crazy in the first place. Lisa talked to Taylor about what really went down in NY and who really instigated what. After hearing Taylor’s response, Lisa deducted that it didn’t matter what Kim said and that Taylor need not bring it up again between Kyle and Camille. Although, Lisa did tell Taylor to talk to Kim about it and nip it in the bud once and for all. So Taylor thought her own birthday party was the best place to bring this conversation up; with a sloshed Kim nonetheless. In the insuing chaos, it became clear that Kim busted Taylor for lying about what was said in NY concerning Camille. To prove Kim’s point, Bravo reaired the scene in question in the airport, which clearly caught Taylor in a lie and proved that she is a straight up instigator. Despite all of this, Kim was still seen as the focal point of drama by the women (except Adrienne) and she freaked out and left. On tonight’s Watch What Happens Live!, Andy Cohen did not hold back on Taylor with his questions involving her ‘hand’ in the limo scene. Taylor tried to defend herself by saying she didn’t know the conversation would make that drastic turn, but can we really take her word on that?

This section of the episode is where my world was turned upside down concerning the show, because the truth landed on our heads like a rock from a 3o storied building. Never have I ever felt so bad after watching a Real Housewives episode since I became a fan early next year. I hope things work out between Kim and Kyle, because they are family and just reality show castmates.

On to the other big sized drama of the night, Camille lounged on her own after coming back from NY without a husband and with a baggage full of problems. Did anyone else catch Kelsey’s line of “I’ve already won…” and wonder if it had some deeper meaning than it did? That was a slight smack to Camille’s psyche in more ways than one, but I could also be looking too deep into that scenario. Other than that, Camille took a seat in the background tonight, but I’m sure she will take top seat at next week’s reunion.

Lisa and Ken, well mostly Ken, laid a fire under Cedric’s ass to get moving out of their humble abode and do for himself for once. Was I the only person whose mouth hit the floor when Cedric’s age was dropped tonight? 37 years old? Are you kidding me? Plus, he seemed really damn adament on staying, which brought visions of the old Michael Keaton/Melanie Griffiths movie “Pacific Heights” to my head. Talk about being the houseguest from hell. He did promise to go screaming and crying, which is a damn shame. The guy seriously has lost a lot of points with me. And kudos to Ken for his “F*ck him!” statement tonight. That man is a role model, all day everyday.

One last thing to point out, Adrienne Maloof and Lisa Vanderpump are two of the best damn realest women on TV. They see B.S. from a mile a way and they are not for the ignorance and unnecessary drama. Adrienne’s handling of the Kim/Kyle argument was very noble and needs to be commended for years to come. It was kind of a turn on as well… Just saying.

So guys that was the finale of the phenomenal Real Housewives of Beverly Hills inaugural season. Truly, hands down, one of the best entries of the Real Housewives franchise and a HUGE step up from The Real Housewives of D.C. What do you guys think?
