The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills 1.04 “It’s My Party and I’ll Spend If I Want To” Review

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills took a look at parenting and how money is a huge factor in their endeavors of being top mom. Plus, Taylor and Russell are heading towards an ugly argument soon and Kyle continues to berate Kim, which was the only ongoing story line from tonight’s episode.

$60,000 + $12,000 For A Kid’s Birthday Party = Insanity

The money slung for the birthdays of Taylor and Kyle’s daughters were so outrageous that I’m surprised no one from the We Hate Teresa Giudice’s Spending Campaign has written nasty letters to the two women for their frivolous slinging of cash.

Let’s look at Kyle’s part for her two-year old daughter Portia first. The party was reasonable in some respects, the main one being that it was catered towards the kids and not the adults. The only qualm I had about the party, besides the $12,000 price tag (which is pennies compared to Taylor’s shindig), was the ‘drama’ behind the scenes with Kim and Kyle.

Kyle got pissed with Kim for not helping with the party, because Kim was too busy moving into her new home. I know that Portia’s birthday party was going on, but I mean, as long as Kim showed up that’s all that matters in the end. What I do like about their tiff is 1) Kyle responded to questions of her attitude towards Kim on Watch What Happens Live! in the most honest manner by saying she’s not proud of their arguments. She wasn’t defensive or proud of her actions, which is why people (myself included) can’t hate on her. 2) Kyle and Kim kept their tiff light and at a minimum by not drawing any attention to themselves unlike another sibling rivalry on the east coast, which ended in chaos. Keep it classy, New Jersey. The Richards Sisters sure are…

Now, let’s get to Taylor’s party for daughter Kennedy, which was basically a tea party on steroids.

First, the price tag. $60,000 for a party that the person either didn’t care too much for or was too scared to enjoy it. Either/or, Kennedy looked as if she wasn’t having any fun whatsoever. She did look sort of excited to get the pricey Barbie necklace, which Taylor was really hoping she liked, but that necklace got showed up by the dog Russell brought in for Kennedy, which in turned incurred Taylor’s jealousy and pissed her off a bit. Seriously, the appearance of that dog shot the entire $60,000 event to hell in one fell swoop. The inevitable Taylor vs. Russell mess is getting closer and closer to exploding and I will have a front seat for the fracas when it goes down.

Other Parenting Skills Run Amok

The only thing I can say about Adrienne’s boys are that they are male versions of Teresa’s daughters, which means I smell a future spinoff idea in the works when the kids are of age to date. As for Camille, I don’t know what her thing was this week, but I really don’t need to see her with that guy in the pool again. Wasn’t he leering a bit much? Man, it’s making my skin crawl thinking about it again…

Lisa showed her maternal side tonight as well as she was worrying about her son Max, who I had no clue was adopted. Max is not a high achiever, but he wants to go to music school in Hollywood, which Lisa thinks is dangerous due to all the bad influences around the area. I was shocked Bravo actually filmed some not so glamorous areas of Hollywood to support her claims. While all of the other Housewives were worried about bling and birthday parties, Lisa was worried about letting her son loose into the real world, which probably is why Lisa asked the proverbial question of the night pertaining to the money being slung all over the place:

“What ever happened to ‘Pin the Tail on the Donkey?'”

We would like to know that answer, too, Lisa.

One last tidbit… Is it just me? Or was Taylor’s Dwight a Caucasian version of the Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Dwight Eubanks? Their voice pattern and styles are an uncanny match…
