The Real Housewives of Atlanta 3.11 “Contract Player” Review

Now we have a new entry in pop culture canon courtesy of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. What would that entry be, you ask?

The friend contract. An invention that goes right up there with Scary Island and Danielle Staub as some of the most eye raising entities to every come out of the Real Housewives franchise.

Now, in Cynthia’s defense, she did this as a joke, but I guess the extremes of the situation with Peter and NeNe probably made it seem a bit more than that, sending the contract up to Scrutiny City in the process. The gesture was pure, but the outcome was a complete disaster.

However, I was damn proud of Cynthia for standing up to Peter about NeNe, because there was clearly an issue he had with Mrs. Leakes and I still think it has something to do with NeNe and Gregg’s personal issues. Another reason Cynthia’s ‘ultimatum’ with Peter resounded with me is because it harkened back to Cynthia’s words about never letting a man dictate her every move after watching her mother’s tumultuous relationships with men. She really channeled that sentiment and made sure Peter got the message as well.

As for the friend contract, while a bit odd, I kind of wished NeNe hadn’t of mentioned it to Kim, who is already skeptical about both of the new girls as it is.

Speaking of the new girls, Dwight is seriously looking for some sort of relevance on the show now that his ties with NeNe have been cut. So conjuring up drama is his only way to stay pertinent. However, if he has to stoop that low to do so, then it’s imperative for him to get his facts straight before stirring the pot with these women. Now, poor Phaedra is going up to people with a determined, verbal smackdown already planted in her head, based on Dwight’s falsehoods, to only get a blank stare and some stern advice on life in return. Dwight, just ask for a spinoff. It would be much easier than following Phaedra around like a socially, sick puppy.

While craziness was going on in those parts of Atlanta, Kim and Sheree were acting as so-called career girls in their endeavors to expand their brand. After being extremely lazy during her dance rehearsal, Kim declared that she will dance on her own time, something a “hard working artist” would never say. Kim, you just keep watching your singing career cha-cha it’s way out your life as quick as it came in. Do better.

Sheree was picked up by a talent agency and her head blew up about ten times the size it is now. After that, Sheree was booked for a play, which she only had one scene in. Granted, she was good, but Sheree has a long way to go before she tackles the big leagues, which she seriously claims she’s ready for. Plus, seeing the reactions of NeNe, Phaedra, and Cynthia concerning Sheree’s play was hysterical, making it the second time this season Sheree has invited people to something she’s a part of only to have heads doze off during the performance. Maybe this will be a ‘lesson learned’ experience for her? I doubt it.
