Black Sails is a television series that ran on the cable network STARZ. Last year marked its fourth season. At the present time, it looks like there might be a fifth season that will also take place, although reports of that are somewhat controversial. The show itself is centered around the days of the old pirates like Blackbeard. It involves a lot of fights between men who are all trying to get ahead in life and for the most part, none of them are too interested in doing things in a moral way, to say the least. It makes for an interesting and action-packed show. It’s also rather refreshing to see a different time frame and setting as opposed to simply regurgitating an idea that’s already been done 10 or 20 times in the past.

1. Black Sails Season 1
It’s hard not to like the first season. It’s also a little bit confusing if you skip the entire first season and try to go on and watch later seasons of the show. You might find yourself spending more time wondering what’s going on than actually enjoying it. The first season keeps you guessing a lot. You really don’t know who is the worst of the worst until you watch a few episodes and in some cases, you might not even know by the time you get to the end of season 1.
2. Black Sails Season 3
It seems like a lot of shows start out pretty good and then have something of a lull in their second season. The same is true with Black Sails. Season 1 was incredibly interesting and then season 2 seems kind of like a letdown. Fortunately, showrunners were able to get it back on track for season 3, providing even more action and some serious plot lines that kept you wondering what was going to happen next for the duration of the entire season.
3. Black Sails Season 4
Season 4 was sort of like the climax to a great novel. At the time it was filmed, no one really knew if the show was going to be picked up for a 5th season or not. This put producers in an interesting position because they were trying to wrap up storylines and create all of these interesting arcs in the story without writing off major characters that they might want to bring back if the show was renewed. All of that angst behind the camera translated into some brilliant moments in front of it , making season 4 a must-see.
4. Black Sails Season 2
It’s already been mentioned that season 2 was a little lackluster in its overall performance. This happens with almost all television shows. It’s actually very rare that every single season of a show is worth watching. This isn’t to say that season 2 isn’t worth seeing. There are some important continuations of stories from season 1ne and it sets the stage for season 3. It’s just not quite as interesting as the other three seasons.
