Now that Alien: Covenant is out we can stop being serious about this film. I never said it was bad but I think all of us, and I mean close to 100% agree this this film was NOT a return to the 1979 classic like it was being hyped as. I think it’s also safe to say we won’t be seeing nearly as many Alien films as Ridley Scott was once advertising. Is it a successful franchise? I would say that from a profit perspective, sure. However, when you really get down to it, how many of these films were actually “good?” Not many.
Perhaps the films would have been better had they taken a comedic angle? No, seriously. What if instead of the Alien you were focusing on another creature? Let’s just say spacecraft Nostromo has an unwanted guest wreaking havoc on the crew and it’s not a bloodthirsty Alien… but an adorable kitten? You never know, this could be Oscar winning material folks. In fact maybe the Wayans brothers should do a spoof.
