One Day She’ll Darken is an upcoming drama series for TNT. For those who are curious, it will be based on the experiences of a real woman named Fauna Hodel, who found much more than what she was expecting when she started searching for the secrets of her background.
For those who are unfamiliar with Fauna Hodel, she was the daughter of Tamar Hodel, who was the daughter of Dr. George Hodel. At the age of 16, Tamar gave birth to a white-skinned girl with blue eyes after her father was acquitted of the charge of incest in a trial that received much media attention at the time. For whatever reason, Tamar claimed that the father of her child was a black person, which resulted in her mother giving the girl to a black maid named Jimmy Lee who was working at a casino out in the state of Nevada.
As a result, both Fauna and Jimmy faced incredible hardship because of their unusual circumstances, resulting in a powerful bond between the two. Still, as an adult, Fauna became interested in finding out the secrets of her background, which resulted in some rather unpleasant findings. After all, Dr. George Hodel wasn’t just known for the incest trial but also for the fact that he was considered a suspect in the murder of Elizabeth Short, who might be better-known to a lot of people as the Black Dahlia.
However, it should be noted that One Day She’ll Darken will focus on more than just Fauna Hodel. Instead, it will incorporate the points of view of a number of characters, with examples ranging from a LAPD officer named Billis who will be played by Yul Vazquez to Jimmy Lee who will be played by Golden Brooks. As a result, it seems safe to say that One Day She’ll Darken has some real potential, particularly since having more than one point of focus promises to make it into a richer and more complex narrative.
