ABC has finally decided to call it quits with the drama Nashville. The alphabet network announced the news today. This information comes just days before ABC and the other networks will unveil their new Fall 2016 schedules at the annual Up Fronts event.
Nashville has never been popular in the ratings during the four seasons the series spent on the air. However, ABC did keep the drama around because the soundtracks and concert sales for shows with various cast members made ABC a nice chunk of change. The last episode that was above a 1.0 same-day rating was back in November before the show took a winter hiatus.
Nashville will air its series finale episode on May 25th. Since the show was always on the fence regarding its survival, there is some hope that the final episode will provide loyal fans with some closure with Rayna, Juliette, and the rest of the fictional country singers.
The show stars Connie Britton, Hayden Panettiere, Charles Easton, Chris Carmack, Sam Palladio, and Clare Bowen. A total of 87 episodes were produced and it went into syndication last year. The show filmed on location in Nashville and had several famous country singers appear on the series including Brad Paisley, Luke Bryan, and Carrie Underwood.
