10 Things You Didn’t Know About the Young and the Restless’ Mishael Morgan

Young and the Restless fans are more than a little sad to hear that actress Mishael Morgan is leaving the role of Hilary. She’s been working on the soap for years, and she’s been able to keep her character interesting, alive, and well in all that time. She’s even made a very dramatic change to herself and her character in the past few months. She’s left behind her devious side and really worked on things that seem to make her seem like a new person, but contract negotiations took the best of her and made her decide to leave Hilary behind. Now that she’s out as Hilary, we thought we might learn more about her. Here are 10 things you didn’t know about Mishael Morgan.

1. She’s From Another Country

Many people have no idea that this is an actress who was not born in America. She was born in Trinidad and Tobago. She lived there for the first five years of her life until her family decided to move to New York. They decided they didn’t want to live there any longer, however, so they moved to Canada.

2. She’s Got Two Sisters

She’s not the oldest child in her family, and she’s not the youngest. She’s the middle child, and she was probably a bit precocious as a child because of it. But those are usually the kids that turn out successful and awesome because of their unique role in the middle. She’s one of three girls, and she’s just right there in the middle.

3. Her Parents Love A Theme

Like so many parents these days, Mischael Morgan’s parents went with a theme when they named their kids. She’s got an M, and both of her sisters have names that begin with M. Maggris and Monique. Even her father is Michael, which leaves her mother, Sharon, as the only one without an alliteration for a name.

4. She’s A Mother

She’s a mother to a little boy, and she has really embraced that role in her life. She’s got a son by the name of Niam. He was born in 2012. She was excited when she announced her pregnancy, and she’s been even more excited to see what motherhood has had in store for her over the past few years. She’s loved it.

5. She Got Married While Pregnant

It happens a lot that a couple finds out they are pregnant, and then they get married. We have no idea — and we refuse to speculate — that she got married to her husband Navid Ali in May of 2012 because she was only a few months away from giving birth to their son, but they did. Maybe they planned it all along, but they have a good marriage and a healthy son, and that’s what matters most.

It is with a heavy heart that I announce my departure from The Young and The Restless. There were many factors that lead to this decision, but ultimately, five years just felt right to me. I feel blessed to have worked with some of the most talented, hardworking and fun-loving people in television. Thank you to the cast, the crew and everyone at Sony and CBS who made the past five years truly unforgettable. A special thanks to my partner in crime Bryton James, who always brought out the best in both me and Hil. Last but definitely not least, I want to thank all of my amazing fans who have supported me on this journey. Your gifts, love and kindness over the years (and days) have warmed my heart and fuelled my soul more than you could ever know. Although my adventure as Hilary Curtis is coming to an end, my work on screen is far from over. This may be a goodbye from Hilary, but I’ll just say “see you soon”. Love Always, Mishael

6. She’s Good Friends with Lily

On the show, Lily and Hilary are the worst of enemies. They hate one another. They are always trying to bring one another down. They are always the worst enemies, but they are the best of friends in real life. In fact, the actress who plays Lily threw Morgan her baby shower when she was pregnant with her son back in 2012.

7. She’s a College Graduate

One thing many people assume when they see famous actors and actresses is that they didn’t go to college. Morgan, however, graduated from college in 2008. She attended York University in Toronto, where she obtained her degree.

8. She Didn’t Start Acting Until She Graduated

It seems that Morgan put a very important role on her education. She did not begin working as an actress until she had her diploma in hand. Her first job was in 2008, which is also the year in which she graduated college.

9. She Didn’t Work in the Soaps Right Away

When she began her acting career, it was with small roles on television and in the movies. She did not begin her work in the soaps. She waited until 2013 to audition, and she was given the role of Hilary. She’s been there ever since.

10. She’s An Emmy Nominated Actress

Morgan was nominated for a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2018. She did not win the award, but it’s really amazing to see your name on that list. She did well.
