Meet the Cast of Yellowstone Season 2

Yellowstone Season 2

Yellowstone is a drama television series that premiered on Paramount Network on June 20, 2018. The series was created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson. The premise of the series is the conflict that develops along the shared borders of a large cattle ranch, Yellowstone National Park, an Indian reservation, and land developers. The main group of characters in the series is the Dutton family, led by John Dutton. The Dutton family control the largest contiguous ranch in the United States and are constantly under attack from those bordering their land and people who want their land. The series shows both the best and worst of rural American life. The first season of Yellowstone was met with rave reviews, and the viewing figures for each episode were consistently around two million. This led to the series being ordered for a second and third season. The second season premiered on June 19, 2019. So, who are the cast members that viewers can expect to see in the second season of Yellowstone?

Kevin Costner

Kevin Costner is returning to play the lead role in the series, says Country Living. As the leader of the Dutton family, John Dutton is returning in the second season of the series. He will continue to play an integral role in the main storylines as he battles to keep his land safe from enemies. Prior to playing this role, Kevin Costner was better known for his roles in films.

Luke Grimes

Grimes plays the role of one of John Dutton’s sons Kayce Dutton. In the first season, Kayce worked alongside his father, but following his father’s health problems, he is entrusted with taking care of the ranch in season two. In this season, viewers will see a new side to this character as he takes on the responsibility of the family business. If you recognize Luke Grimes, you may have seen him in ‘True Blood’, ‘the Magnificent Seven’, or one of the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ films.

Kelly Reilly

Reilly is known for playing strong female characters, and it is no different in this series as she plays the role of John Dutton’s only daughter, Beth Dutton. She is a complex character and a bold businesswoman. She is also intelligent, unapologetic, and very protective of her family.

Wes Bentley

Bentley has played challenging roles in the past as his characters in ‘American Beauty’ and ‘American Horror Story’ both fit into this category. Playing these roles prepared him well for playing the role of Jamie Dutton, the estranged son of John Dutton, in Yellowstone. Jamie is the black sheep of the family and a lawyer. He is constantly, and unsuccessfully, seeking the approval of his father.

Kelsey Asbille

Asbille reprises the role of Monica Dutton, Kayce Dutton’s estranged wife. Their marriage was put under strain because her family lives on Broken Rock Reservation, which borders Yellowstone Ranch. This means there is conflict in the families, and her loyalties lie with her own family rather than her husband’s. Asbille has previously had roles in ‘One Tree Hill’, ‘Splitting Up Together’, and ‘Teen Wolf’.

Cole Hauser

Viewers of season one will remember Rip Wheeler, played by Cole Hauser. This character is not technically part of the Dutton family, but he is considered as good as one by John Dutton. He is a local hired help who also has a crush on Beth Dutton. Hauser has previously had roles in ‘Dazed and Confused’, ‘Good Will Hunting’, and ‘2 Fast 2 Furious’.

Brecken Merrill

Child actor Brecken Merrill plays the role of Kayce and Monica’s son Tate Dutton. Tate lives with his mother in Broken Rock. Young Brecken has only had small roles as an actor before, so this is a breakthrough role for him. Despite his lack of experience, Luke Grimes has said that he is a dream to work with on set. He has had bad experiences of working with children in the past, but Brecken has been totally different. Apparently, the young actor is handling it like a pro.

Gil Birmingham

Gil Birmingham is already well known, thanks to his roles in ‘NCIS: LA’, ‘Hell or High Water’, and ‘Twilight’. In the second season of ‘Yellowstone’, he is reprising the role of Thomas Rainwater, who is the chief of Broken Rock and an enemy of the Dutton family. While John Dutton wants to protect his land, Gil Birmingham is desperate to fight for the rights of his residents.

Jefferson White

Prior to Yellowstone, Jefferson White had roles in ‘How to Get Away with Murder’, ‘Manhattan’, and ‘House of Cards’. In Yellowstone, he plays the role of Jimmy Hurdstrom who is one of the ranch hands. He nowhere close to being the perfect cowboy, but Jimmy and Rip take him under their wings. However, Rip is often very hard on the young ranch hand.

Danny Huston

Jenkins is an actor who is known for multiple film and television roles. In Yellowstone, he plays the role of land developer Dan Jenkins. This character wants to build on parts of Yellowstone, so he is one of the Dutton family’s enemies.

Denim Richards

Richards is a returning member of the supporting cast rather than a member of the main cast. He plays the part of Colby, a cowboy wrangler. Denim Richards has previously had roles in both ‘Good Luck Charlie’ and ‘Good Trouble’.

New Characters

According to Heavy, there are also some new characters introduced to the series for season 2. Neil McDonough is joining the cast to play the role of Malcolm Beck who is a wealthy businessman who runs a casino with his brother, Teal. Ryan Dorset is also joining the cast, although it has not been revealed which role he will play. Another actor who is joining the season two cast is James Jordan. Again, not much is known about his role. Finally, Stephen Williams is playing the role of a mysterious cowboy.
