On July 15, 2015, the Disney Channel premiered Bunk’d, a spinoff to the hugely popular comedy series, Jessie. The show tells the story of a group of kids who head of to Moose Rump, Maine, to spend their summer at the rustic summer camp, Camp Kikiwaka. Throughout the summer, we see the kids adapting to camp life, growing in confidence and maturity as they face the challenges of adapting to new people, new situations, and all the thrills and spills that come with camp life. The original cast saw Jessie regulars Peyton List, Karan Brar, and Skai Jackson join newcomers Miranda May, Kevin Quinn and Nathan Arenas alongside a host of re-occurring and bit part players. Since season one, the cast has had several shakeups, with List, Brar, and Jackson departing the show and a new gang of aspiring young talents taking their place. Miranda May as Lou
Miranda May takes the role of Lou, an exuberant farm girl who serves as head counselor of Cabin Woodchuck for the first 3 series and as head director of Camp Kikiwaka in the fourth season. As Lou, May is the longest serving member of the Bunk’d cast. May began her career at the age of 8, getting her first big break 2 years later when she was chosen to star alongside Ben Stiller in “The Heartbreak Kid”. She quickly followed this up with a role in “Lower Learning” starring Eva Longoria and Jason Biggs, and as the young Melissa McCarthy on “Samantha Who?”. Prior to her casting on Bunk’d, May was playing Spacey Lacey, a reoccurring character on Season 2 of Disney’s “Liv and Maddie”.
Mallory James Mahoney as Destiny
The character of Destiny Baker, a beautiful campmate who’s managed to claim the crown at numerous beauty pageants, is taken by Mallory James Mahoney. Mahoney got her first break in the industry with a Chuck E. Cheese commercial and subsequently went on to enjoy success as Taylor in Heaven Sent (2016), Katy Cooper in the TV movie Adventures in Babysitting (2016), and Jenny in Dig (2014). Mahoney joined the cast of Bunk’d in season 3 and has already drawn quite the following, attracting more than 184k subscribers to her Instagram page.
Raphael Alejandro as Matteo
Raphael Alejandro joined the cast of Bunk’d in season 3 as the character Matteo Silva, a nervous camper who sees the danger in even the most innocent situation would rather be at home than at Camp Kikiwaka, and reverts to his native Portuguese whenever he finds himself overcome with emotion. The young star was born in Montreal, Quebec, in 2007 as the youngest of 3 siblings, Dalila Bela and Bruce Salomon, who have all found some success as actors. Alejandro started acting in TV commercials at the age of 4, before landing the role of Robin Hood’s son Roland on ABC’s Once Upon A Time. He subsequently enjoyed success as Victor Haseman in the Almost Human episode “Skin ” (even earning a Young Artist Award nomination in the process) and as Tisander in the fantasy television series Olympus. Other credits include Badge of Honor, Kindergarten Cop 2, and the 2017 Lionsgate comedy film, How to Be a Latin Lover.
Will Buie Jr. as Finn
Will Blue Jr plays the part of Finn Sawyer, camp director Lou’s second cousin and someone known for having some rather odd attitudes to personal hygiene but is nonetheless admired for his fearless and enthusiastic attitude. Before joining the cast of Bunk’d in season 3, Buie had appeared briefly in Modern Family, and enjoyed a reoccurring role as Brad Jr./Ella on “Daytime Divas”. Other credits include the Stephen King-inspired Netflix series, “In the Tall Grass.” According to Fandom, when he’s not on set, Buie can usually be found studying up on his passion for cars, playing Xbox, driving his Traxxas Rustler remote truck, biking and playing soccer with his friends.
Scarlett Estevez as Gwen
Taking the role of Gwen Floes, a newcomer to the camp in season 4, is Los Angeles native Scarlett Estevez. Estevez has been acting since a young age, and is so far best known for starring alongside Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg in the “Daddy’s Home” films, as Trixie on the Fox series Lucifer, and for her numerous voice acting credits, which include the Amazon animated series “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” and “The Grinch” animated feature. Other credits include “And Then There Was You”, and the short film “The Magic Bracelet”, which also stars James Van Der Beek, Hailee Steinfeld, Jackson Rathbone, J.K. Simmons, and Bailee Madison. According to Fandom, Estevez is a sports fanatic whose list of hobbies include gymnastics, hiking, and running around with her siblings and cousins.
Israel Johnson as Noah
Teenage Noah, the camp’s newest counselor and a skilled actor, is Israel Johnson. The Philadelphia native started his acting career at the tender age of 4 alongside Kerry Washington and Anthony Mackie in the movie “Night Catches Us”. In 2013, he wowed us with his breakdancing skills in the short film, “Son Shine”. After starring in a series of TV commercials, Johnson got his big break with the recurring role of Ed Morris on ABC spinoff to the popular sitcom “The Goldbergs”, the equally successful “Schooled”. Johnson joined the cast of Bunk’d in season 4, and when he’s not acting up a storm on our screens, he enjoys playing video games, skateboarding, and rapping.
Shelby Simmons as Ava
Shelby Simmons takes on the role of Ava King, a counselor who’s both new to Camp Kikiwaka and to camping in general. The 17-year-old actress currently resides in Los Angles, and, prior to joining the cast of Bunk’d in season 4, was best for her work in “Game Shakers,” “Andi Mack”, “Prince of Peoria” and as a guest star on “School of Rock”. According to her IMDB page, Simmons is a keen animal lover and when she’s not on set, loves nothing more than spending time with her dog Daisy & her white rabbit Luenell.
