The string of women coming forward to make claims regarding the sexual misconduct of Jeremy Piven seems almost never-ending. Since questions surrounding his behavior towards women first arose in November 2018, more women are coming out of the woodwork to claim that they have had a negative experience with this actor. In total, there are now eight women who claim that the 52-year-old actor was sexually inappropriate or aggressive with them. Many of these claims are historic with some going with the earliest claim dating back to when Piven was just 21. With so many women making accusations, how many more will there be before he is found guilty?
It all began in October 2017 when the first alleged victim, actress Ariana Bellamar, said that he had sexually harassed and assaulted her on several occasions. Piven responded immediately to this claim denying everything that she said. Bellamar’s accusations prompted Cassidy Freeman to also suggest that Piven had behaved inappropriately with her. On her Instagram account, she told her followers that something had happened when she was far too young.
The problem then began to spiral for the ‘Selfridges’ actor when a third woman, advertising executive Tiffany Bacon Scourby, made it public that she had also had a bad experience with him. She claimed that the attack happened in 2003 and that he had exposed himself, jumped on her, and rubbed himself against her for sexual pleasure.
To defend himself, Jeremy Piven voluntarily took a lie detector test which involved questioning about his behavior towards the women. Although he passed this test, it did not stop more accusers from coming forward and he faced a further allegation. This was made by Anastasia Taneie who had met Piven when she worked as an extra for ‘Entourage’. She revealed that he had forced her against a wall and touched her genitals.
Jeremy Piven has continued to defend himself and is adamant that these incidents never happened. Things quietened down over Christmas and it is possible that he thought the situation would improve in the New Year. However, that has not been the case as a further three women came forward and this was revealed in a report on BuzzFeed news. All three women alleged that he had behaved inappropriately towards them in either a sexual or aggressive way. Again, Piven vehemently denied that these events occurred, and he referred back to the lie detector test he had taken in November 2017 in his defense.
Porn star Isis Taylor has also made an allegation the actor, bringing the total number of women who have come forward to eight. Although not much is known about the exact nature of her allegation, she did reveal during an interview that Piven had shown her his penis at a party in 2011. Things are not looking good now for Piven, despite him having taken a polygraph test. Not only is he under the scrutiny of both the public and the media, the situation has had a huge impact on his work. He was starring in the CBS crime drama ‘Wisdom of the Crowd’ but the series was put on hold when the allegations came to light.
Whether or not he is ever found guilty of the allegations may well depend on if any more women come forward and back-up the claims.
