Marvel Comics is proving itself to be a very powerful entity when it comes to transforming comic book characters into real, live heroes and villains on the big screen. In fact, they have proven that they have the capacity to convert just about anything into a winning presentation on film. For proof, just check out Guardians of the Galaxy, where they turned a racoon and a tree into the main characters, and sold it to the public. They have even proven the world of television to be fertile soil for their antics, with S.H.E.I.L.D.
Well, one narrative that is gaining a great deal of momentum is Daredevil, and while everyone is aware of Daredevils focus on Kingpin, another character is capturing the attention of the show’s fanbase – Madame Gao. So, let’s take a look at some of the things that you didn’t know about Madame Gao.
1. She Is a Master Manipulator
When the average person thinks of a drug lord, especially in a city like New York, they think of a ruthless killer that strike fear in the hearts of those who opposed or fail them. Well, Madame Gao is definitely ruthless, making up a substantial part of the heroin trade in New York, but she is also a master manipulator, who has become very astute and finding ways to get others to unwittingly do her bidding. This is one of the ways that she is able to stay out of the cross hairs of law enforcement.
2. She is Extreme Wise
One thing about Madame Gao that stands out immediately is the fact that she is not impulsive. Her wisdom is readily evident. Where many others in her position would likely be highly compulsive in dealing with many of the challenges that come her way, she uses her uncanny ability to mentally and experientially work through problems to find solutions that will work to her advantage. It is this type of wisdom that allows her to pit her potential enemies against one another in a manner that will cause them to neutralize one another without her having her hand in it.
3. She Plays a Significant Role Cross to Features
One thing that Marvel has been able to do, almost seamlessly is create cross sections between their productions, and one such cross section is between Daredevil and Iron Fist, where Madame Gao plays a substantial role on both shows, and a direct nemesis of the Iron Fist, and in Iron Fist, just as in Daredevil, she always seems to know more about what is happening than anyone else.
4. More Than What Meets the Eye
One mistake that Daredevil made when he first squared off against Madame Gao was to take her at face value – with her seemingly frail physique. Her first strike drove him several feet in the opposite direction, indicating that she obviously has some special powers. In Iron Fist, she also proved to be a superior matchup for Danny Rand, and to this point, no one knows the extent of what she is capable of.
5. She Appears to Be Immortal
In addition to her remarkable reflexes and physical power, Madame Gao has given indications that she has the ability to transcend time, as an immortal. If she is not immortal, she definitely possesses the capacity for an extended life by modern standards. She has mentioned events from the 17rth century, which would date her to being a minimum of 420 years old. This amount of experience also explains her remarkable wisdom.
