Lucifer: Why A Show About the Devil Deserves a Season Three and More

Lucifer

When I first heard about Lucifer, I got all “judge a book by its’ cover” on it. I figured that a show about the Devil leaving Hell behind to take a vacation in Los Angeles would not be the kind of show that I would watch (or cover for this site). After watching the first season and the current second season, however, it would seem that I was wrong.

Tom Ellis’s portrayal of Lucifer Morningstar is nothing short of amusing (though there were times where I would roll my eyes or facepalm at some of his lines). Lauren German’s Chloe Decker is tough and independent and doesn’t give a rat’s behind with regards to Lucifer’s antics. I love female characters that are strong enough to hold their own. They don’t need a man telling them what to do. #Respect

I also have a confession to make. Before I wasn’t shipping any characters on the show, but I had an inkling that Lucifer and Chloe would get together. With the recent events that have happened in the second season, turns out that my hunch was right. So here I am on the Lucifer/Chloe bandwagon (or Deckerstar, as we dedicated fans call them) and I couldn’t be happier. The final scene from Stewardess Interruptus made me shed a tear. Lucifer told Chloe that he’s not worthy of her (which he does. Even the Devil deserves to be loved) and the detective kissed him because she is starting to have feelings for him.

The part where Lucifer asked Detective Decker if their relationship is real towards the end of Love Handles and the detective smiled and nodded in affirmation, I almost stood up and cheered. My heart went out to Lucifer when his Mother told him the truth about his beloved Chloe. It’s like watching someone go through an intense heartbreak right in front of you. Though technically, Chloe doesn’t know that she’s a miracle child.

On the other hand, I understand why Lucifer thinks that she knows because he thinks everyone is out to get him. That and he hates his Father with a passion. Lucifer, the love that you and Chloe share is very real! She wouldn’t have kissed you on the beach or hugged you like a worried wife waiting for her husband if she didn’t feel the same!

I love shows that have a bit of drama mixed in with romance and Lucifer certainly delivers. That and I love watching Mazikeen (Lesley-Ann Brandt) kick butt. Maybe her and Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) should get together next? Just a suggestion now that Deckerstar has become real. I am not looking forward to the hiatus. That and I will have my other shows (and fanfiction) to keep me sane.

When the show returns to air the remainder of the second season, I’m sure that it will be awesome. I only hope that it won’t lose viewers during the three-month long hiatus. That and the network (I’m looking at you, FOX) will seriously consider renewing the show for a few more seasons. It’s one of the greatest shows on television; I would hate to see it get canceled.

Lucifer airs at 9/8c on FOX and will return with new episodes on May 1. Photo via FOX
