When the [easyazon_link identifier=”B005OCFGTO” locale=”US” tag=”tvovermind00a-20″]Harry Potter series of films[/easyazon_link] came to an end, fans feared that it was the last they would see of the Wizarding World on screen. Then, J.K. Rowling brought them ‘[easyazon_link identifier=”B01MSIWWI2″ locale=”US” tag=”tvovermind00a-20″]Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them[/easyazon_link]’, which is a spin-off and prequel to the Harry Potter series of books and films and is based on a novel of the same name by Rowling. David Yates directed the film while Eddie Redmayne took on the main role of Newt Scamander. Others who starred in the film include Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Samantha Morton, and Ezra Miller. This award-winning film was the 8th highest grossing film of 2016 as it took $814 million at the worldwide box office.
Now, fans are looking forward to the next installment of the Wizarding World as ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’ I set for release later this year. Eddie Redmayne is reprising his role as Newt Scamander and many of the cast from the first film are also returning for the sequel. However, there are also some new cast members in the second film and fans have bee left guessing who may appear in the next film. J.K Rowling recently gave out some information relating to the new cast members on Twitter.
Although it had already been revealed that Jessica Williams would have a role in the movie, it had not been clarified which character she was playing. J’K. Rowling posted a picture of herself on Twitter with her good friend Williams. The tweet that went with the photo said that Professor Eulalie (Lally) Hicks from Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was sitting with some random women (meaning herself) during the interval of ‘Cursed Child NYC’.
This was the first time that fans were told that Jessica Williams is playing Professor Lally Hicks. J.K. Rowling went on to post another tweet saying that moviegoers would only see a hint of Lally in Fantastic Beasts 2 and that she would become a bigger character in Fantastic Beasts 3.
Jessica Williams is delighted to take on the role because the Harry Potter books and films have been an important aspect of her childhood and teens. She has said that she would not have believed when she was reading Harry Potter books in the fourth grade that she would have a role in a Wizarding World film as an adult.
Williams is not the only new cast member in ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’. Jude Law is another newcomer to the cast and he is taking on the role of Albus Dumbledore. In the Harry Potter series of books and films, he is the headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. As this film is a prequel set in the 1920s, he has not yet achieved this status and is working as the professor of transfiguration.
Other new cast members include Callum Turner as Theseus Scamander, Claudia Kim as a Maledictus, Olafur Darri Olafsson as Skender, Brontis Jodorowsky as Nicolas Flamel, and David Sakurai as Krall, a henchman of Grindelwald.
To see these new cast members in action, you can look forward to the release of ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’ on November 16, 2018.
