Legends of Tomorrow: Crisis Averted, Double Wedding, Goodbye Stein.

Legends of Tomorrow

This is it, folks, the crossover to end all crossovers. Teams Arrow, Flash, and Legends get together once more in this week’s Legends of Tomorrow. This time, it’s not to fight evil aliens but Nazis and the doppelgangers of Oliver and Kara. Yeah, things are going to get real. Time to kick some Nazi butt!

The hour began right where The Flash left off. One Nazi shot Professor Stein, injuring him. The professor managed to open the breach to Earth-1 before collapsing. Jax then merged with Stein to keep the latter alive as Firestorm. Once aboard the Waverider, Jax suddenly spits out blood due to his connection to the professor. Not wanting the young man to die along with him, Professor Stein told Jax to give him the serum that Cisco created to separate Firestorm.

It turns out, Gideon had modified the serum so that it will split the professor’s biology from Jax’s. It was a difficult decision, but it had to be done. After drinking the serum, Professor Stein passed on, leaving the entire team of heroes heartbroken. The reason for the professor’s death is simple. Victor Garber is to star in the musical Hello, Dolly! on Broadway alongside Bernadette Peters. We’ll miss you, Victor! Once a Legend, always a Legend!

The team then met up with Evil Oliver and his Nazi army under a bridge somewhere in Central City. It’s Good vs. Evil and Doppelganger vs. Doppelganger. I still can’t fathom the fact that Evil Oliver is married to Evil Supergirl. That and the Earth-X version of Leonard Snart is a rule follower and is in love with The Ray. In the end, the Earth-X Captain Cold decides to stay on Earth-1 for a while, promising his lover that he will one day return to Earth-X. Please tell me he joined Team Legends! Please?

In the end, the super team stopped the Nazis, Evil Supergirl went supernova and Evil Oliver shot by Oliver. A touching funeral is held for Professor Stein as everyone gathered to say their final goodbyes. Oh, there is also a double wedding with Barry and Iris as well as Felicity and Oliver. I chuckled when Barry ran to get Diggle from Star City to Central City so he could marry all of them. He threw up as usual by the way. I so love happy endings, don’t you?

Final Thoughts:

Earth-X Mick died saving cops. Never thought I would hear that coming from Leo Snart’s mouth.

“Make a plan, execute the plan, expect the plan to go off the rails. Throw away the plan.” I love this line. It should be the motto for Team Scorpion since they change plans every time during a mission.

I like that Oliver can figure out what Evil Oliver will do since the latter is him. Then again, this could have gone a lot quicker if Oliver knows every move his evil twin will make.

I was shocked to see a Felicity doppelganger when Evil Captain Lance wanted Oliver to shoot her. Shame Earth-1 Felicity didn’t get a chance to see her twin. Also, the underground bunker on Earth-X resembles the Arrow lair on Earth-1. Coincidence? Maybe.

Nate’s line about how it takes a Man of Steel to catch the Girl of Steel is a tad ironic. The Man of Steel is Superman’s nickname; he can’t just take it even though he’s got steel powers. Come up with a better nickname, dude!

Speaking of Superman, when Kara told Eobard that her cousin will come and save her and then moments later, Ray comes in. Yeah, Superman to the rescue!
