Team Legends head back to 1942 once again in this week’s episode of Legends of Tomorrow. This time, they are not the only ones. The Justice Society of America is here to help. Well, after knowing that the Legends mean no harm.
The hour began right where the last episode left off. Team Legends is about to leave 1942 when the JSA stopped them. The former is in a holding cell while the latter figures out what to do with them. I still can’t believe that the JSA quickly defeated the Legends. That is, everyone except Ray.
Dr. Heywood then dropped the bombshell of the hour. The good historian turns out to be Commander Steel’s grandson. The latter, unfortunately, doesn’t seem to believe him. Then again, it’s 1942 and not 2016 where science jargon and time travel is not crazy talk.
I shook my head at the scene where Jefferson flirted with Stargirl. You never pass up a chance to flirt with a beautiful girl, do you, Jefferson? I’m more than confident that she tried to kill you like Professor Stein said and not flirt with you.
It was hectic, for lack of a better word, watching Professor Stein trying to lead the team as the new captain. The physicist tried his best to be a good leader. In the end, it was Sara who had a more controlled state of mind to lead the team and make the tough decisions calmly. Yay for Captain Canary!
I also agree with Commander Steel when he said that children should be allowed to do whatever they set their minds to. If you have a dream, you should do everything in your power to chase that dream. It may take a while for it to become a reality, but with determination and perseverance, you can get to where you want to be.
Speaking of Professor Stein, it was a pleasant surprise to hear him sing, and a song from a classic musical at that. His voice reminds me of Christopher Plummer’s voice. Both baritone and easy on the ears. It would have been nice to meet the real Max Lorenz, but since he bears a striking resemblance to Professor Stein, then I guess we just have to take his word for it.
When Rex Tyler said that he had never met the Legends when viewing the security camera footage of the holding cell, it immediately made me think that a certain scarlet speedster did more than just try to fix the timeline. Thanks a lot, Barry Allen! Then Eobard revealed at the end of the episode that Rex had traveled back in time to warn the Legends not to return to 1942 right before killing him. Vixen then found Rex dying on the floor as the latter said, “Time travelers” right before he breathed his last breath. Please don’t tell me that she jumped to the conclusion that Team Legends killed him.
The only thing that felt a bit off in tonight’s episode is the Hulked-out Nazi. The CGI looked a little strange and a tad creepy. That and the part where he was abruptly killed when the missile bomb hit. You can do better than that, show. Also, what does Eobard want with the amulet? The plot, as they say, thickens.
