Justin Theroux confirmed it himself on Tuesday via his Instagram account (see below) but The Leftovers will be nearing “The End” on April 16th on HBO. The show will enter its third and final season. So far the show has received a lot of mixed reviews. There are legions of people who absolutely love and are obsessed with the show. All the other people out there pretty much dislike the show and refuse to watch it. There really doesn’t seem to be much of a middle ground here. According to TVline
Season 3 – which was shot on location in Texas and Australia and will consist of eight episodes – will feature returning series regulars Theroux, Carrie Coon, Amy Brenneman, Christopher Eccleston, Liv Tyler, Margaret Qualley, Chris Zylka and Janel Moloney. Additionally, Season 2’s entire Murphy clan – i.e. Regina King, Kevin Carroll, Jovan Adepo and Jasmin Savoy-Brown – will return. Also back in a big way: Scott Glenn, who has been bumped up to series regular. Glenn recurred in Seasons 1 and 2 as the father of Theroux’s Kevin Garvey.
Carron Coon was quoted as saying “you’ll be satisfied with the end.” I guess that remains to be seen. But for all those Leftovers fans they should be treated to a great show. With only 8 episodes scheduled to air, they’re going to have to fit a lot in there. Hopefully the show will be able to pull it off. Here’s Theroux’s instagram post.
