People who watched Mindhunter might recognize Cameron Britton, who provided a memorable performance as the serial killer Edmund Kemper. Now, he has been cast on an upcoming movie called The Girl in the Spider’s Web, which should come as welcome news to those who are interested in seeing how well Britton can perform in other roles for other productions.
What Do We Know about The Girl in the Spider’s Web?
For those who are curious, The Girl in the Spider’s Web is a follow-up to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, which was a movie based on the novel of the same name. Likewise, The Girl in the Spider’s Web will be based on the novel of the same name as well, which stands out from the other novels in the same series because it is the first one that was written following the death of the original author Stieg Larsson from a heart attack. With that said, the novel fared well from both a critical and commercial perspective, which is something that bodes well for the movie.
What Else Do We Know about The Girl in the Spider’s Web?
The Girl in the Spider’s Web isn’t expected to come out until October of 2018. However, there is a fair amount of information that has been released about it so far, which should prove interesting to those who remember its predecessor with fondness and are curious about how it will turn out.
For example, a curious choice was made to cast new people for the movie, which is rather important because it will be seeing the return of a lot of characters from its predecessor. First and foremost, Rooney Mara is out, meaning that the role of the main character Lisbeth Salander will now be played by Claire Foy. With that said, there will be new characters cast as well. One example is Sylvia Hoeks, who will be playing Salander’s twin sister, while another example is Claes Bang, who will be playing the villain of the upcoming movie. Meanwhile, Britton will be playing an ally to Salander, who happens to specialize in computer matters.
Of course, there are a fair number of other people who are known to be involved in The Girl in the Spider’s Web as well. For example, the movie will be directed by Fede Alvarez, who some people might recognize from Don’t Breathe in 2016. Furthermore, Steven Knight was the one who wrote the script while working in close collaboration with not just Alvarez but also Jay Basu. Finally, it is interesting to note that the production for the movie is expected to start up in January of 2018 in two locations, with one being Berlin in Germany and the other being Stockholm in Sweden.
It remains to be seen how The Girl in the Spider’s Web will compare with its predecessor once it is released in the movie theaters. However, those who can’t until October might want to pick up the novel, which is available in English. For that matter, they might want to check out the rest of the Millennium series, which consists of five novels so far.
