Joey Lawrence and His Wife File for Bankruptcy

It’s hard to say why it’s anyone’s business other than the Lawrence’s, but Joey Lawrence and his wife have filed for bankruptcy. This is perhaps why some folks wouldn’t want to be movie or TV stars since your private life seems to be available to be on blast twenty-four hours a day. In Joey’s case the dollar amount of each of the items that he and his wife possess, the amount of unpaid rent, and various other expenses are a matter of public record at the moment for people to pore over and ‘ooh’ and ‘aah’ about. But really, is this news?

It’d be worse still if they were attempting to publicize this in order to make something off of it or perhaps start a GoFundMe account to help out with their troubles. The Blossom alum has been falling on hard times as of late as the cuteness he banked with his appearance on the show and in many venues afterward seems to have worn off with time. He did manage to come up with a show that people liked for a while but that was discontinued in 2015 and since then he’s been doing everything he can just to pay the rent, which obviously hasn’t worked with the current state of things as they are. It’s strange though to think of what happens to celebrities when their shine starts to fade and they can’t seem to figure out what to do with themselves. It’s a competitive market no doubt but there are still a lot of people that either go back to living simply, if that’s how they started, or find a way to maintain the spotlight in a way that allows them to still remain in the public eye.

It’s not so much that Joey Lawrence hasn’t been doing that, it’s that he’s been living the high life when he can’t afford it apparently. When you’re thousands of dollars behind in rent and can’t even pay for a night out on the town because you’ve got less than $100 dollars in your pocket then it’s time to start evaluating your position and figuring out how you can live with less. Some might argue that asking a celebrity to do such a thing is not how it’s done but quite honestly celebrities that weren’t that huge to begin with should really have a contingency plan should things start falling apart at the seams. Joey might have been a teenage heartthrob but those teenage years have come and gone. It’s time to start paying up and learning how to live on a budget rather than continuing the farce that’s been going on.

So far it seems that the Lawrence’s have in fact filed for bankruptcy but they have managed to clear their debts, which were fairly substantial by the standards of the average citizen. Having more credit card debt than some people owe on their homes is kind of ridiculous to say the least, but when you live the life it seems to be kind of normal.
