10 Things You Didn’t Know about Joely Fisher

You remember Joely Fisher right? She’s been around for a while and despite not being entirely prominent on the scene she’s still been a great addition to a few movies and a lot of TV shows. She’s that woman you notice when someone points her out, or you happen to be watching at the precise moment that she’s on since she can be there and gone in an instant or pervasive throughout an entire episode. She has been on some shows for longer than an episode but again, you have to be watching to notice. A lot of people still know who Joely Fisher is since she’s been prominent enough in Hollywood that her name has been spoken more than a few times. But in this day and age it bears reminding people of certain celebrities simply because they’ve either faded into the background or have been overtaken by other talent.

Here’s a few things you might not have known about Joely.

10. She’s Carrie Fisher’s half-sister.

She and Carrie had the same father and she didn’t even know about her for a while until someone told her. When Carrie passed away Joely, like many other people, was devastated as she had lost one of the people that was most dear to her life.

9. She’s a friend of Mariska Hargitay.

Considering Mariska is one of the most noted TV actresses and has been for quite a while you can honestly say that Joely knows some very popular people. But being in show business that seems like it comes with the territory. It has it’s perks no doubt as they can understand one another when it comes to their work and talk to each other about their experiences on a very similar level.

8. She’s not interested in comparing her career with anyone else’s.

A lot of celebrities will say this and it’s a very pleasing thing to hear but Joely simply doesn’t want to go around thinking that she’s like this person or that person in an attempt to try and justify her own career. The phrase of “you do you and I’ll do me” is one of the things she seems to enjoy applying to her own life more often than not.

7. She’s not a big fan of dieting.

She is a fan of eating healthy and taking care of herself so far as exercising and staying in shape goes, but Joely doesn’t like to deny herself food which is fortunate since there’s just too much in life to enjoy while worrying about calories.

6. She’s wanted to be an actor since she could walk.

Acting must run in the Fisher line, at least with her and half-sister since they both seemed to be destined from a young age to get up and find the spotlight as much as they could. While she loves to act however she’s not much of a camera hog, as she enjoys the dynamic between herself and her fellow actors.

5. She was in The Mask

She doesn’t have a huge part as she’s the woman that Stanley approaches in the beginning of the film to announce that he has tickets to an event that she wanted to go see. Unfortunately when it comes up that Stanley wasn’t invited and she just wanted him to get the tickets you get to see how Stanley just accepts that everyone wants something from him, they just don’t want him. Being the nice guy isn’t always the way to go.

4. She was on Ellen.

Joely was a recurring character on the show Ellen for quite a while and was there until it was taken off the air. It’s unknown if she was comfortable with this lip lock but one good thing is that she and Ellen have been friends for some time so you can imagine it was both for work and simply because they knew each other well enough that this fact was understood. It definitely made a romantic and comical scene.

3. She’s been acting since the late 80s.

Joely has been around for a while, a little over thirty years in fact when it comes to film and TV. So you can imagine she’s seen a thing or two and knows the score when it comes to acting. For all that however she’s still here and still doing her thing.

2. She’s been seen in theater as well.

She had a part in a production of Grease as Betty Rizzo. It’s kind of hard to see anyone else take on the role that Stockard Channing immortalized, but so long as the woman in question has the right attitude and can pull it off a lot of people could be Rizzo.

1. She’s also had a music career.

It hasn’t really rivaled her acting career but it’s been something else that she’s been lauded for and a great addition to her acting.

She’s still a very talented woman and hopefully will stick around for a while yet.
