There are times when fan mashups really work and then there are times when they don’t. This is something in between since Joker and Venom don’t really seem to be a workable mix but they’re not so far apart that they’d be completely alien to each other in terms of meshing. In truth this dance routine that Joker is doing while the Eminem song is playing doesn’t quite work as well as you might like to think since if you’re watching Phoenix dance it looks a lot more herky jerky than the song would allow for since the rhythm is a lot smoother than his dance moves. I know, it’s a bit critical of something that a person took the time to do and honestly it’s not all that bad really, it just doesn’t track as smoothly as it possibly could. Maybe TheNerdyBoii was just having some fun and didn’t really mean for this to be taken seriously. That’s certainly a failing of a lot of opinion writers, we tend to take the serious things in a funny way and try to attribute a sense of the serious to the fun and comical. Hey, it’s a job hazard, but oh well.
In thinking about this though the funny thing did occur that wondering what Venom and the Joker have in common did pop up since when you think about it they’re both pretty loco and they don’t seem to care much about collateral damage, or at least Venom never used to when he was strictly a villain. Perhaps these days Joker would have more in common with Carnage, who simply lives to cause chaos and to kill. It’s a frightening thing to think about in any case since the physical aspect wouldn’t add much to the symbiote’s own powers since despite being a human born from seeming chaos, the Joker is still just a man, and not a particularly powerful one, so there would be nothing to add to like it did with Spider-Man and virtually every other super being the symbiote has bonded with. But the maniacal lean that the Joker has would almost certainly affect Venom or Carnage since Joker is pure chaos that doesn’t seem to have a real beginning or an end. Venom at least has a limit to his craziness, and even Carnage has had moments of reflection that seem to show the more human side of his host. Can you imagine the nuttiness that might go on with one of them possessing the Joker?

It’s hard to say which version of the Joker would be worse really since there have been a few different personalities attributed to the clown prince of crime throughout the years. Perhaps the most disturbing seems as though it would be if Venom or Carnage took over the Joker from The Dark Knight since in terms of chaos there hasn’t been another like Heath Ledger’s version, ever. Even Arthur Fleck, Joaquin Phoenix’s version, doesn’t seem poised or even ready to take on that level of measured crazy that seems so intent on shredding through anything that comes near. Is that a mark against the newest Joker? Maybe, and maybe not. Without having seen the movie yet it’s hard to really say yea or nay to the idea of the Joker being given an origin story that makes him a little less or a little more in the eyes of the audience. It’s not enough to say that the Joker has never had a true origin story since he’s been given a few. But the ubiquitous nature of the character is what’s helped to make him so popular throughout the years. Trying to pin down his real origin has been what a lot of people have seen as enjoyable about him, but others tend to think that the level of chaos he represents is greater still.
That’s what the Joker is after all, he’s chaos bottled up in human form, and it’s glorious to the point that those of us that happen to love the chaotic touch look at him as something of a savior from the law and order that seeks to take over so many facets of life. There’s a limit to the chaos we can take of course, there’s always a limit that shouldn’t be stretched too far, but if any of us were about to be honest, the chaos that’s inherent within this character is something we’ve all felt at least once or twice in our lives, and it’s a feeling that some shy from and others run towards with wild abandon. Cristian A. Ortiz of Writing Cooperative obviously understands this feeling since he too has written his fair share in his time. Those of us that aren’t afraid but don’t rush headlong however, we’ve learned a valuable secret that the Joker was seemingly given upon his conception. We learn how to use the chaos, and in doing so become privy to a story that is one of the greatest ever told, but changes with each rendition until it’s no longer recognizable. Yes it sounds crazy, that’s the whole point.
