Remember that video I shared over the weekend of John Wall getting grilled by a little kid reporter? The child asked him what his favorite home cooked meal was and Wall replied with Salmon and Broccoli. The little kid rolled his eyes in disappointment and the internet went wild. It turns out there’s a big story behind that kid. His name is Jarrius Robertson. It turns out that Robertson or “J.J.” has become a celebrity in his hometown of New Orleans.
The 14-year-old has seen his fair share of surgeries and tough times. He is battling a chronic liver disease called biliary atresia and has his own foundation called “It takes lives to save lives” which encourages people to be organ donors. He got a liver transplant when he was 1-year-old that had complications and resulted in him being in a coma for almost a year. Just recovering from that coma was almost a miracle, as the doctors took away his respirator and he started to breathe on his own.
Robertson has been a fan favorite of so much so that the New Orleans Saints signed him to a contract on Good Morning America. He’s full of energy and confidence, so when the NBA came to New Orleans this past weekend Jarrius was there to take in all the sights and sounds, and even steal the spotlight from the NBA stars. If there’s someone who stole the show this weekend, it wasn’t a player but rather Robertson. Here are some of his best highlights from the weekend.
