The 2015 animated hit “Inside Out” was one of the most unique stories that came out that year. One of the reasons why the movie was such a hit was because of the brilliant acting that went along with it. “Inside Out” was certainly a voice acting success, and the actors behind the film are true masters of their craft. Without the voices they lent to the characters, the entire movie would’ve been absolutely lifeless. All the actors have been busy since the movie came out, but here’s what the main cast of “Inside Out” have been up to lately.
Joy — Amy Poehler
Comedy genius Amy Poehler had been busy since starring in “Inside Out.” In more recent times, Poehler and fellow actor Nick Offerman started a TV series called “Making It.” It’s a discussion-type show where talented people come together for a nice chat. She’s also currently filming a movie called “Wine Country” alongside pals Rachel Dratch and Tina Fey.
Sadness — Phyllis Smith
Sadness was one of the most pivotal characters in the movie, and Phyllis Smith was so excellent at it. The last biggest project that Smith was in was when she played Betty in the Netflix series, “The OA.” She also starred in “Nunsense,” a TV series based on the musical comedy written by Dan Goggin.
Fear — Bill Hader
Hader has been busy the last decade, and “Inside Out” was one of his best works. He’s currently playing the title role of the new TV series “Barry” as Barry Berkman, but he’s also got four film projects currently in production status.
Anger — Lewis Black
No one else could’ve pulled off Anger’s character the way that Lewis Black did. He made that character truly iconic. Since the movie, Black has starred in a few TV series and films as well. His last project was playing Trump’s Psyche in 2017’s “The President Show.”
Disgust — Mindy Kaling
Mindy Kaling is going to be part of the latest “Ocean” movie installment, “Ocean’s 8.” She’ll be playing the role of Amita alongside some veteran actresses such as Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett. She’s also currently filming another project called “Late Night” about a late night talk show.
Riley — Kaitlyn Dias
Young actress Kaitlyn Dias did really well portraying the emotional role of Riley in “Inside Out.” She was fairly new when the movie came out, but she’s been busy since then. Her last project was playing Sara Jacobs in the 2017 short “Defining Moments.”
Mom — Diane Lane
It was hard to really hear Diane Lane’s voice in Riley’s Mom, and she did a really good job of portraying the character. Lane’s been in a few DC movies lately, but her latest projects include playing Karen in “Serenity.” She’s also got another untitled Reed Morano film in pre-production right now.
Dad — Kyle MacLachlan
MacLachlan can be considered a Hollywood legend, and the fact that he was in “Inside Out” just made the movie so much better. This actor never stays still, and he actually has three film projects in post-production currently. He’s also filming another project called “Fonzo,” where he plays the role of Karlock.
