I’ve mentioned this Youtube channel before but it’s worth mentioning again. “Lessons from the Screenplay” is picking up a ton of subscribers, as it should be. As of now nearly 500,000 tune in to these highly researched and incredibly perceptive videos that dive into the screenplays of popular movies. For those that enjoy learning about the motivations, meanings, and significance of particular films, this is an excellent way to do so.
Their latest clip explores the animated hit movie Inside Out. Creating a story is often as much of a journey for the writer as it is for the characters. In this video the channel looks at the writing process for Inside Out to examine how the powerful emotions in the film were inspired by the real-life experiences of the writers. It turns out that it took the team “a lot of introspection to arrive at the emotional truth that is the core of their story.”
