Today we celebrate Earth Day which is a fantastic time to increase climate and environmental awareness. Wherever you are, there’s a good chance something local is going on in your community in which you can contribute to the cause. I happened to attend a Monster Truck Rally today which doesn’t exactly do much for Earth Day but I do plan on recycling the water bottles I drank at the show. But in all seriousness it’s a big day on the calendar and one in which has risen in popularity over the years. One guy who’s adamant about the environment is Bill Maher. He took to his final segment on Real Time to give his views on Earth Day.
What did he begin with? “Stop talking about Mars!” Here’s a crazy idea: if we’re going to take up the challenge to overhaul a planet, let’s do this one,” the “Real Time” host said. He’s got a point. Rather than take up so much time thinking about how we’re going to exit our current planet to inhabit a new one, it’s not like Earth is completely done for. Amazingly it’s completely in our hands to change the way Earth is deteriorating. Maher would rather us focus on that.
