Malcolm Ford is the son of actor Harrison Ford and his screenwriter ex-wife, Melissa Mathison. He was born on October 3, 1987. Although he has very famous parents, there is very little that people know about Malcolm. In fact, there are many people who are completely unaware of him and of who is parents are. However, he is now beginning to put himself in the limelight and forging his own career in the entertainment industry. Here are five things that you probably didn’t know about Malcolm Ford.
1. He Played Himself in ‘Water to Wine’
‘Water to Wine’ is a 2004 film that is half comedy and half documentary. It is about a young man who is the best snowboarder in the world until he goes to jail. Malcolm Ford plays himself in this film, as do the majority of the cast members. The one exception to this is Malcolm Ford’s father, Harrison Ford, who also stars in this film. He plays the role of Jethro, the bus driver. This film is written and directed by Willie McMillon. It is the only film in which Harrison Ford has appeared.
2. He Has Five Siblings
In total, Malcolm Ford has five siblings although these are not all from the same mother. He has a sister, Georgia, from the same mother and two older brothers, Willard and Benjamin, from his father’s first marriage to Mary Marquardt. He also has a younger brother, Liam, who his father adopted with his third wife, the actress Calista Flockhart.
3. He is In a Band
Although he has not become an actor like his father or a writer like his mother, their creative genes must have passed down to Malcolm Ford. He has opted for a career in the music industry and is in a band called ‘The Dough Rollers’. Ford sings the lead vocals and plays the guitar while Jack Byrne, with whom he founded the band, plays the guitar and sings backing vocals. The Dough Rollers have been on the music scene for several years and were signed to Third Man Records by Jack White.
4. His Mother Died in 2015
Malcolm Ford’s mother is Melissa Mathison who is a famous screenwriter. She is best-known as the writer of ‘E.T: The Extra-Terrestrial’ and Black Stallion‘. She also wrote ‘The Indian in the Cupboard’, ‘Kundun’, and ‘The BFG’. During her career, she often collaborated with director Steven Spielberg. Sadly, Melissa Mathison died of neuroendocrine cancer on November 4, 2015, in Los Angeles.
5. He Is a Fan of Tattoos
Malcolm Ford looks nothing like his father Harrison. This in part is because his dad has a rather clean-cut look about him while Malcolm is definitely sporting the look of a rock star in the making. He has a shock of red hair and is a big fan of tattoos. He has an array of designs inked into both his arms as well as several other parts of his body. On the knuckles of the four fingers of his left hand, he has the letters ‘F.O.R.D.’
