Glennis Grace is among the many talented individuals in the music industry that deserve their spot and have earned it without question but sometimes still manage to get buried under the sensationalist and over-hyped individuals and groups that get pushed first. It’s amazing really since she has one of the best voices in the business and is able to take a song and run with it like few others could. But the music industry and its many fans are so fickle that it’s hard to really get noticed and stay in the public eye for long. The fads and trends that come and go tend to change so often that one has to really wonder just what it takes to stay on top and how much one has to give of themselves. At this point Glennis Grace is still very much in the game and still doing her best to stay there, so hopefully her persistence will be enough to maintain that spot as she continues to give her all.
Here are a few things you might not have known about her.
10. She appeared in the 13th season of America’s Got Talent.
It takes a lot of guts to get up in front of the panel of judges and show what you can do, but Glennis, who was goaded by her son, managed to do just this and managed to wow the judges with her performance in a way that isn’t all that easy.
9. She’s from the Netherlands.
You might think it funny that a woman from the Netherlands was on a show called America’s Got Talent, but it’s easy to put that confusion to rest. The rules of the contest do allow this if the individual is in the country legally. Plus, she hold dual citizenship with the US and the Netherlands, so it’s allowed.
8. Her career started in 1994.
As you can see she’s been in the business for a while and knows how thing go, so it’s easy to assume that she understands how the trends can come and go. So far she’s done what it takes to stay relevant, but even she has to know that things will continue to change.
7. Two of her albums have peaked at #2 in the Netherlands.
It would seem that in the Netherlands she’s a big hit, though in the US she’s known but not quite as popular. In America however it seems fair to say that things change so often according to the fans that trying to stay on the top is a lot more difficult.
6. She was discovered by a Dutch talent show.
Sometimes all it takes is to be discovered and then the rest of it takes care of itself. Of course a lot of hard work and effort tend to make a difference as well, which is the experience that Glennis has seemed to thrive on throughout her career.
5. She’s had a fairly successful career so far.
You can’t say that she’s done nothing, since to be honest she’s been busy for the past two decades doing what she can to stay on top of her career and be a mom to her son. She’s been a patient and very strong-willed performer to date and enjoys doing what she loves.
4. At the age of 11 she got to share the stage with Julio Iglesias.
How great would this have been? This seems like it would have been a turning point in the life of any kid that wanted to sing and perform in front of people. That kind of drive would be hard to deny after such a momentous occasion.
3. She is what is classified as a world singer.
World singer’s aren’t really any different from any other artist save that their style encompasses more than the average singer and seeks to reach more people on a broader level than most. The style doesn’t always localize its message and tries to broaden the horizons of the listener.
2. She’s 40 years old.
Obviously no one is ever too old to keep doing what they love as she’s one of the many singers that has continued to do what she loves and what she wants into the years when some people are considering calming down and enjoying the life they have made. She’s still going just as strong as she used to in her younger years though.
1. Her debut album came out in 1995.
Real Emotion was her first foray into the bigger world beyond her voice, and it was fairly successful as it launched her career into what it is now. Glennis has managed to create quite a life for herself and has made her family proud throughout the years as she’s continued to follow her dreams.
Listen to a couple of clips of Ennis singing, it’s worth the time spent as her voice is just lovely.
