Gaming For Primetime – Six Video Games That Would Conquer TV

Kane & Lynch: Dead Men

What it’s about: Kane and Lynch are the murderous odd couple. One is a death row inmate and former mercenary who wants to make things right with his family, the other is a self-medicating psychopath convicted of killing his wife. After escaping from prison, the duo must pay back Kane’s former employers to prevent the death of his family. It’s standard fare in today’s world of M-rated gaming, but that doesn’t mean our anti-heroes aren’t any less compelling. Both have a knack for using salty language, which sometimes adds a bit of humor to such an intense game.

Who should play who: There is already a film in the works with Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx attached to star. Let’s pretend for a minute that there isn’t a movie in development. Bruce Willis is still the perfect choice for Kane if he ever wanted to make the jump back to television. As for Lynch, someone like Billy Bob Thorton (who was originally rumored to have the part in the film) would be ideal. Remember how good the two were together in Bandits? If not Thorton, Jon Gries (Lost’s Roger Linus) would be a welcome addition to the cast.

Why it’s good TV: The FX network has built a reputation of having a lineup that pushes basic cable boundaries with shows like The Shield, Justified and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. With a sequel gearing up for release this month, the series could serve as putty to fill the cracks between games. Plus, if shows like Dexter are any indication, who doesn’t like rooting for a good anti-hero?
