Game of Thrones has to be one of the more complicated tunes I’ve heard played on these kind of calculators yet. I still have yet to find any of these calculators though I’m certain that Amazon must have them somewhere. For some reason it keeps pulling up graphing calculators and I’ve seen enough of those from my days in Calculus to last me a lifetime. But in many ways this is almost like playing a strange kind of keyboard since it requires all four of them honestly to really get the full feel of the intro to one of the greatest shows ever made. Yes, I know very well that others have said the same thing about many shows, I’ve even said it, but Game of Thrones definitely will go down in history as one of the many that have claimed such a title.
The opening theme is just too awesome for words since it has no lyrics, thankfully, and seems to change subtly each time a new territory or kingdom is shown within the opening cinematic. Every little clockwork city and territory is engineered just perfectly to show off the entire scope as it is shown in the series. The mastery of this opening is that you basically get to see how the show evolves throughout the series as new territories are added within different seasons and even different episodes as they begin to take their place in the overall scheme of the show. Some come and go, others retain their prominence in a way that suggests that no matter how hopeless the situation looks they will still be a part of the show, though perhaps under new reign.
Think back to season 1. We saw King’s Landing, Winterfell, The Wall, and Pentos after a brief overhead look of King’s Landing again. That was it, the whole world as we knew it at the time, and it was a great start to the series. Then as the show went on and people got hooked more cities were added and they had to be a little quicker, and the song had to last just a little longer so that we could get an idea of where the story was going to be centered and how many different locations there now were to experience. That was great since it meant that story had evolved in such a way that it was now a true phenomenon and something worthy of the fan base that it had created.
I think I can speak for a lot of people when I say how hard it’s going to be to wait for 2019 to get here now that it’s been decided that this is when the next and final season of Game of Thrones will be coming out. I don’t want to wish for 2018 to hurry up and go by since the years fly by as it is, but waiting for the next season of GoT is going to be rough since there are few if any shows that are a fitting substitute.
