Game of Thrones Cameos You Completely Forgot About

Game of Thrones Cameos You Completely Forgot About

There are a lot of people coming and going in Game of Thrones so it’s very easy to not notice certain things or people that might crop up from time to time. While not all cameos are bound to be by known celebrities there are more than a few that you might be interested in learning about as you continue to enjoy the show. GoT is well-renowned by now for slipping in characters when people aren’t looking and trying to see what they can get past even the most diehard fans. So let’s see if you happen to remember these “here and there” cameos that so many others missed.

A few of them were hard to remember really, but some were actually quite obvious.

Will Champion

It’s very fitting that the drummer for Coldplay would in fact be playing a drum during his cameo in the show. The only real disturbing part you should realize is that he was playing this part during the Red Wedding in which the Freys turned on the Starks for the insult they felt was given. It’s not really known if Champion got to put down his drum in favor of a crossbow but it was fun to see him there.

Gary Lightbody

His part isn’t all that long but the lead singer for Snow Patrol is able to display just why he’s so popular and why his voice is prized by his band. He is a self-proclaimed GoT fanatic and couldn’t help but be overjoyed that he was to be included in this episode. Unfortunately he was one of the Bolton bannermen that got captured by Jamie Lannister and Brienne of Tarth, but at least he got to be on the show.

Sigur Ros

A fun fact about this is that not did Sigur Ros play as the minstrels for Joffrey and Margaery’s wedding, one of them was actually injured when Joffrey tossed the fake coins at them in an effort to get them to move along. Gleeson obviously didn’t mean to do any harm but it was still a testament to his acting skills that he was able to actually be just as petulant as Joffrey for a second.

Neil Marshall

Believe it or not he is in real life an avid archer and quite good at what he does. So really it makes all the sense in the world that he was put into the show as one of the Night’s Watch, defending the wall with a bow and arrow in his hands as the wildlings began to storm the barrier.

George Bush’s Severed Head

GoT had to apologize for this representation by stating that they use so many props that they honestly didn’t know what they had up on the wall at that point. It’s hard to believe they don’t look at every little piece they put out, but putting the wig on could have been an attempt to hide it a little better.

Mastodon

After working to produce a track for the series the band was actually invited over to take part in an episode as wildling extras. They were so jazzed to do this that they made their way over and proceeded to watch each other be murdered on TV. It was great fun and they were happy to be a part of it.

David Benioff’s parents

Producer David Benioff’s parents made a brief appearance as peasants on their way to King’s Landing. Benioff’s father was actually a part of the Bush administration back in the day and is anything but a peasant, which makes this cameo a little ironic.

There are bound to be a lot more cameos that were missed and more still to come in GoT. Keep a sharp eye out and you might see them.
