Young and the Restless fans know this show hasn’t been around as long as some of the other soaps on the air, but it’s a good one nonetheless. There is a lot that can be said about this soap and what they have managed to accomplish over the years. What we love the most is that they are a good soap with a lot of fans, but they are still really working so hard to bring the heat and the drama. We wanted to take a look back at a history of their Emmy wins to show you just how good this show really is, and we want to be sure you know just how amazing they are in comparison to other soaps on the air.
Emmy Wins
We aren’t sure when this information was last updated prior to 2018, but the show has been recorded as having a grand total of 116 wins so far. This includes the show, the cast, the characters, and the crew of the show who do so much work in the background that fans never even see. It’s a lot of wins, and it’s so impressive to see this kind of situation.
Emmy Nominations
The show has earned a grand total of approximately 360 Emmy nominations. As far as we can tell, that’s more than any of the other soaps unless this counts categories we did not in other soap reviews. However, this is still an impressive number, and we are not shocked by it.
Major Category with the Most Wins
It’s the directors who get to take home the award for being the best. The category of Outstanding Drama Series Directing team has 11 wins total. The next best is the Best Drama Series Category with a total of nine wins. We don’t know how many nominations they received for these, but they did take them home more in these two categories as a win than any other.
Star with the Most Interesting Wins
Camryn Grimes is the actress who plays Mariah Copeland, and she’s got two Emmy wins for her roles. Yes, roles. She’s not always been Mariah, and we think that’s what makes her wins the most interesting. Before she was Mariah, she won an Emmy for her role as Cassie Newman back in 2000. Did you even know she had that role? Did you realize she was a familiar face when she reappeared a few years ago as Mariah? We didn’t!
Most Winning Cast Members
This is a tie. It goes to the talented Peter Bergman and the talented Christian LeBlanc. Both have three wins for their roles on the show. Bergman, as you know, is the man who has long played Jack Abbott turned whatever as he recently found out he is not an about. And LeBlanc was Michael Baldwin. Now they are both tied for the most wins for an actor on the show.
It’s A Tie
Back in 2013, it was a huge moment for the show when Billy Miller, who plays Billy Abbott, took home the win for Outstanding Supporting Actor. The only downfall to his win that year was the moment he realized he was not the sole winner of the award. He was a tied winner with the very talented Scott Clifton, who plays Liam Spencer on the Bold and the Beautiful. We don’t know how they felt about this, but we imagine they were a little less than thrilled that they were forced to share an award.
A Disappointing Year
2018 was not the best year for the show. They did not win nearly as many Emmys as they usually do, and that was a bummer. Only two were brought home by the cast of the show that night, and it was the lovely Camryn Grimes and the lovely Eileen Davidson. Camryn Grimes plays the role of Mariah Copeland, and Eileen Davidson is exiting the role of Ashley Abbott. Both actresses were excited to win their awards, and they are proud of the job they did to earn what they can call their own Emmys. It was not a first for either, but it’s never a bad thing to take home an Emmy award from a major ceremony like this one.
