Well, we’re pretty close to the season finale of The Flash. But is it just me, or have you noticed that one particular aspect of the show isn’t quite clear? That aspect is how Jay Garrick and Hunter Zolomon can be the same person. Now if you’re familiar with the comics, you know that Jay Garrick is supposed to be The Flash’s Earth-2 Counterpart. But Hunter Zolomon is the real name of Zoom, one of Flash’s enemies. What the show’s trying to tell you, is that Hunter Zolomon and Jay Garrick are the same person, which is Zoom. But I’ve got another idea. I’ve known for quite a while that the Man in The Mask is another speedster. But ever since Jay Garrick supposedly died in front of our eyes, I’ve known that for a certainty. Jay Garrick is alive, people. And he’s the man behind the mask. Further proof is a tweet from the man Greg Berlanti himself:
For those inquiring, we love Jay Garrick and would never make him a baddie. No reinvention. Keep watching :) love that you're asking q's.

I think that’s proof enough. Hunter Zolomon’s the baddie. Jay Garrick is The Flash. Now we have further proof too: Carlos Valdes gave an interview to IGN, where he said this:
I think all the curtains will be drawn and all mysteries will be revealed in terms of Zoom origin, the lair, the Man in the Mask, the identities. There’s an element that’s missing that people don’t know about yet in which people won’t find out about until the Man in the Iron Mask is unmasked.
There’s that talk about the man in the mask clearing things up again. But what Valdes says next will make this more confusing:
When I first found out who it was, I was thrown for a loop. You don’t understand why it’s this person until you go into the story behind how this person got into the cell, why Zoom took them hostage and put them in the cell. You cannot make sense – there’s no way of making sense of why that person is in the mask until it is explained. But I think that explanation is very satisfactory. It takes loops and turns, and it’s a riveting story that makes sense within Zoom’s chronology and his story and his motivations.
This kinda made me question my theory. How can Jay Garrick be one of Zoom’s motivations? But, I think I’ve got a good idea now. Alot of people will guess it’s Zoom’s father after hearing that. But Zoom’s father doesn’t need a cell like that. When I first saw Barry interact with The Man in The Mask, I looked at the interactions and thought it might be another one of Barry’s doppleganger. But I think Hunter Zolomon had some sort of history with Jay Garrick. That history led him to steal Jay’s speed and become Zoom. It’s a good explanation, really. At least, I think it is. Carlos Valdes says this too:
The payoff after the unveiling of the mask as far as that character is concerned, there’s this beautiful reveal. It’s just a beautiful reveal. That’s all I’m going to say.
Let us hope it’s a beatiful reveal and Jay Garrick isn’t a baddie.
