Most people will know Thomas Q. Jones as a NFL running back of some note. However, it is interesting to note that he has been pursuing an acting career since he left football, which has resulted in a number of roles in both movies and TV shows. Recently, it has been reported that Jones will be making a return to Luke Cage, which might be interest people who love speculating about what they can expect next from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

He Comes from Virginia
Jones comes from a town called Big Stone Gap that can be found in the state of Virginia. Given its name, it should come as no surprise to learn that it is known for a geographical feature, which happens to have both coal and iron deposits. Unfortunately for the local economies, coal mining has been in a serious decline for some time, as shown by the struggles that Jones and his siblings faced as they grew up in a family with two coal-miner parents. For those who are interested in learning more, Jones has actually written a book about those struggles called Blessings from the Dust while working in collaboration with his parents, which may or may not be turned into a movie at some point in the future.
Over 10,000 Career Rushing Yards
In 2000, Jones was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals. As a result, he went on to play as a running back for a number of NFL teams, with examples ranging from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the Kansas City Chefs. While Jones has never won the championship, he has received a fair number of awards and accolades for his accomplishments, with an excellent example being how he is still considered to be one of the top leading rushers of all time yardage wise.
Has Some Regrets about His Football Career
With that said, it is interesting to note that Jones has some regrets about his football career. In fact, he outright stated in January of 2017 that if he could have a do-over, he would not play football because of the physical consequences of so much physical stress. Furthermore, Jones’s regrets can be seen in his development of a documentary called The NFL: The Gift or the Curse? as well as his decision to donate his brain to the Sports Legacy Institute that studies the connection between brain trauma and the physical trauma sustained by playing rougher sports upon his death.
Played a Love Interest on Being Mary Jane
Jones played the love interest on Being Mary Jane, which is an American drama series that can be found on BET. His character was named Brandon Gibson, who showed up for five episodes in Season 3 as a love interest for the titular character Mary Jane, who is a successful news anchor who nonetheless struggles to juggle all of her commitments in both her personal and her professional lives.
Will Reprise His Role in Season 2 of Luke Cage
In Season 2 of Luke Cage, Jones will be reprising his role as a supervillain by the name of Comanche, who was known for his outstanding bowmanship in the comic books as well as his hand-to-hand combat capabilities. Regardless, since his character was still in prison in Season 1, the fact that Jones has been spotted filming footage out on the street suggests that his character won’t be stuck there for Season 2. Furthermore, since Comanche’s partner Shades is out of prison as well, this could mean a bigger role for Jones once the season comes out.
