Sidharth Malhotra is an Indian actor who is best-known for his roles in Bollywood films. He was born in Delhi on January 16, 1985. Some of the films in which he has taken a leading role include ‘My Name is Khan’, ‘Student of the Year’, ‘Hasee Toh Phasee’, Ek Villain’, and ‘Kapoor & Sons’. These films have led to Malhotra becoming recognized as one of the hottest talents in Bollywood.

1. He is a Former Model
Before he became an actor, Malhotra worked as a model. He was very successful in this profession and modeled on catwalks in some of the cities most important to fashion in the world. These included Milan, Paris, and New York. He even modeled for Robert Cavalli, an international designer. He began modeling when he was just 18 but tired of this career after only four years. He decided instead to pursue a different career path and focused his efforts on establishing himself as an actor.
2. ‘Student of the Year’ Wasn’t His Intended Debut
Malhotra made his Bollywood debut in ‘Student of the Year’ but this should not have been his first movie. He was actually offered a part in Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Fashion’, a movie in which he would play opposite Priyanka Chopra. However, he had a contract with Gladrags at that time and this prevented him from accepting the role. He had the opportunity to learn more about the film industry, though, as he worked as the assistant director on ‘My Name is Khan’ which was released in 2010. Malhotra finally got lucky when he landed the role of Abhimanyu Singh in the 2012 film ‘Student of the Year’, acting alongside Alla Bhatt and Varun Dhawan.
3. He is Involved in Charity Work
Sidharth Malhotra supports many different charities. In 2013, he performed at an event to raise money for victims affected by floods in Uttarakhand. Other people involved included Alia Bhatt, Shraddha Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Huma Qureshi. In 2016, he traveled around the US as part of the ‘Dream Team 2016′ tour. Malhotra also wants to raise awareness of dogs and has collaborated with PETA.
4. He Made His TV Debut in Prithviraj Chauhan
Malhotra played the role of Jaichand in Dharti Ka Veer Yodha Prithviraj Chauhan, commonly referred to as Prithviraj Chauhan. This Saga Pictures TV series was aired between 2006 and 2007. Rajat Tokas played the role of young Prithviraj Chauhan while the older version of this character was played by Anas Rashid. The story is based on the ruler of the Chauhan dynasty.
5. He Has Won Several Titles and Awards
While working as a model, Malhotra won several titles. At the 2007 Gladrags Mega-Model and Manhunt Pageant, he was the second runner-up and also won the titles of ‘Mr. Photogenic’ and ‘Mr. Internet Popularity’. In the same year, he was also given the title of ‘Mr. Gujarat’. Since beginning a career in acting, he has been nominated for many awards. In 2013, he won the Most Promising Debut Male Stardust Award and the South Africa India Film and Television Awards Male Debut Actor of the Year, both for his role in ‘Student of the Year’. At the 2014 BIG Star Entertainment Awards, he won the Most Entertaining Actor in a Romantic Film and he shared the award for Entertainer of the Year with Alia Bhatt.
