Shriya Saran is an Indian actress and model who was born in Uttar Pradesh on September 11, 1982. She is best-known for her work in South Indian cinema, American cinema, and Bollywood movies. She made her film debut in 2001 when she appeared in the Telugu film ‘Ishtam’. Despite usually remaining secretive about her private life, she has recently hit the headlines after announcing her forthcoming marriage to Russian sportsman and businessman Andrei Koscheev. She has now confirmed that their three-day ceremony will take place in Udaipur between March 17 and 19. Here are five more things that you might not know about Shriya Saran.
1. She is an Ambassador for Many Indian Brands
As she is such a prominent figure in India, Shriya Saran is an ambassador for many major brands in this country. These include many health and beauty products, such as Head & Shoulders, Lux, Saravana Stores, and Pantene Shampoo. In addition to being an ambassador for these brands, she was also a brand ambassador for Celebrity Cricket League during in its first two seasons.
2. She Has Won Awards
Shriya Saran has won many awards in recognition of her talents. She received her first award in 2008 when she won the South Scope Style Award for Best Tamil actress for her role in ‘Sivaj: The Boss’. The following year, she won a Stardust Exciting New Face Award for her role in Mission Istanbul. She next won the Amrita Mathrubhumi Award for Best Actress for ‘Kanthaswamy Thoranai’ in 2010. Since then, she has won a further five awards for roles in various films.
3. She Owns a Spa
In 2011, Shriya Saran opened her own spa, called Shree Spa, which is located in Mumbai. The difference between her spa and those of her competitors is that she employs only those who are visually challenged. She was inspired to do this because of her experiences growing up. She attended a school that was directly opposite a school for the blind and she would visit the other school every week.
4. She First Modeled for Pond’s Creams
When Shriya Saran began her career, she worked as a model. The first company for whom she appeared in an advertisement was for Pond’s Creams. Her next job was in an advertisement for Coca-Cola with Tamil actor Vijay. She now refuses to model for soft drinks advertisements as she believes that they are harmful to the health of children.
5. She Has Four Films Set for Release in 2018
Shriya Sharan has starred in an extensive list of films and she already has four films in the making for 2018, although the characters she is playing in these films has not yet been confirmed. She is appearing in the Telugu film ‘Gayatri’ which is directed by Madan Ramigani and is now in post-production. She is currently filming ‘Naragasooran’ which is a Tamil film directed by Kathrick Naren. The other two films that Saran is currently filming are ‘Tadka’ and ‘Veera Bhoga Vasantha Rayalu’. The former is a Hindi film directed by Prakash Raj while the latter is a Telugu movie with Indrasena R. in the role of director.
