Five Things You Didn’t Know about “Being Serena”

Being Serena is one of the newer shows to come out lately and it’s one of the few that doesn’t really follow the standard format that you’d expect of a reality show. The narratives that act as bookends to the show and the perspective that’s put into the different moments that are shown throughout the program are not typical for a documentary of this type. But what this means more than anything is that it’s something that people haven’t seen before, or at least in a while.

It might be worth a look.

5. The show is about Serena Williams.

Yes, that Serena Williams. The famous tennis player will be showing just what her life is like and narrating part of the way through it to show people just what kind of things she goes through on a regular basis and what her life is like. Her triumphs, losses, and life overall have been a big challenge to deal with it seems over the years and she’s ready and willing to show and tell people just what it’s been like.

4. It’s not the typical documentary.

This show is more like a personal log of Serena’s than anything since there is no director and no one that is reading for her when it comes to her life. It’s more or less Serena showing and sharing just what she’s gone through in her life and what has changed her so greatly. Viewers might have a different take on it depending on how they feel about the show and the style of filming but really it’s more or less just Serena showing her life.

3. This is basically from Serena’s perspective.

It might be a little hard to relate to since not everyone that watches the show can relate to it that much, if at all. But there is enough inspiration to be gained from realizing just what Serena had to go through to get to the top of her game and to beat out so many others in the process. It might not be that people can relate due to the level of excellence she’s shown, but the show should be able to entertain all the same.

2. A lot of the series focuses on a distinct period in her life.

So far a lot of the show has been about the Australian Open, her pregnancy, and her marriage. There’s enough to go on right there for a whole season, but it seems like this might be something that would take up a handful of episodes before moving on. It could be however that this first season will build upon those instances that are being discussed and then move forward.

1. She was eight weeks pregnant when she won the Australian Open title.

Obviously eight weeks isn’t like being eight months since she wouldn’t be allowed to play at such a late stage. But all the same it’s enough to think that she’s a tough character being able to play her heart out when her body was starting to change up a bit for the oncoming birth. Yes I know, eight weeks is not as critical, but it’s still enough that things can happen.

It might be worth looking into.
