Five Things You Didn’t Know about “A.P. Bio”

A.P. Bio is a new comedy that will be starting up on NBC in the not so distant future. Like its name suggests, it is about a Advanced Placement Biology class, though the humor is supposed to come from the fact that it has either nothing or next-to-nothing to do with said subject. Here are five things that you may or may not have known about A.P. Bio:

Created By Mike O’Brien

Three people have been listed as the creators of A.P. Bio. Two of them should be well-known to a lot of people out there, seeing as how one is Seth Meyers while the other is Lorne Michaels. Meanwhile, the third is Mike O’Brien, who was a writer on Saturday Night Live for a total of seven seasons.

Centered Around an Ex-Professor

A.P. Bio is centered around Jack Griffin, who used to be a philosophy professor at Harvard University but left because he failed to get tenure. As a result, he has since become a teacher of Advanced Placement Biology at a high school, where he has no intentions of teaching the subject whatsoever but is instead interested in using his students as a way of lashing out against the man who got the job that he wanted.

It Is Cynical

Some comedies are optimistic in nature. In contrast, other comedies are much more cynical about the world, with A.P. Bio being an excellent example. For example, Griffin is forcing his students to help him catfish the man who got the job that he wanted. Furthermore, his inappropriate behavior seems to be something that is shared by a lot of the other teachers in the series, with examples ranging from the teacher who told a student to point out where her perineum was in front of her entire class to the teacher who decided that it was a good idea for her to pose in a swimsuit in front of her art class.

It Has Terrible Timing

Simply put, A.P. Bio has terrible timing. After all, it is a series centered around a person in a position of power forcing those put under his power to engage in inappropriate sexual behavior. Even in the best of times, the premise is something that needs to be handled with care and consideration because the line between transgressive and inappropriate is a fine one. Under current circumstances, one cannot help but be amazed that multiple sets of management were somehow convinced to give the series the go-ahead.

Starting Broadcast After the Winter Olympics

Regardless, those who are curious can catch A.P. Bio once the 2018 Winter Olympics has come to a close. So far, A.P. Bio has had a single episode broadcast on NBC, but that was meant to be a preview of the series as a whole. As a result, the other episodes won’t start broadcasting until February 25. With that said, the first three episodes will be available on the Internet for those who are not interested in waiting until then.
