A confessional writer and US novelist, Jonathan Ames is best known for creating “Bored to Death,” an HBO TV comedy. He has a novel “Wake Up, Sir,” published in the UK. He was born on March 23rd and once worked for many years as a New York Press Columnist. A graduate of Princeton University, he proceeded to pursue a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Columbia University. He says he has Written Two Drafts for “Bored To Death” Movie
After HBO cancelled “Bored to Death” a comedy series in 2012 after three seasons, plans have been underway to release a movie. However, not much advancement has been made. Jonathan who is the creator of the show said that he has already written two versions of the film. Fans are advised not to anticipate the production of the movie soon because Ames also has fears that the two drafts may not quite work the reasons why he took a break/stopped. Nonetheless, he says that they still talk about it and have some fresh ideas.
He only Writes in First Person
Jonathan says that he just writes in 1st person. Currently, he has completed three novels, and all are in first person narration. He says that he prefers this because Ames likes becoming the character so that he gets a chance to communicate directly through the person. Ames reports that he only tried to write once in 3rd person. He did this while novelizing a movie known as 200 Cigarettes. Jonathan worked with the third person narrative as omniscient as it was. He said that he wrote the book under a pseudonym because he did not create the plot nor characters.

When Jonathan Ames was younger (20 years), he worked as a model. He, however, did not find the job too interesting. Ames used the earnings from a modeling job to travel to Europe. While drinking in a bar in Paris, he got into a fight and broke his nose thus could not work as a model anymore. Jonathan says that working as an extra in a porn movie was fun. Other than writing and teaching, he remembers that one of the best jobs he has ever had was driving a taxi.
He is not an Alcoholic but Loves his other stuff
Ames views alcohol as a problematic drug. He remembers that when he was younger, he would behave self-destructively and stupidly often moving from explosion to total abstention. Jonathan says that now that he is older, he never gets intoxicated because he is not a fan of hangovers. He, however, enjoys marijuana saying that it is gentler than alcohol.

In the pre-internet era, he would write about his adventures smoking crack with transsexuals and escapades with prostitutes. At first, he would be sure that it was only available for less than a week and then it would disappear. Later on, he started collecting the information in a book thinking that people would judge him less harshly after going through the trouble of reading the material. There were times he who would meet women and they were okay but appear disturbed after reading the book and meeting him. He, however, says that multiple times women were interested in him because of his dirty books.
