Five Things You Didn’t Know About Cleopatra Coleman

Cleopatra Coleman is an Australian actress, although she currently lives in Los Angeles, California. She was born in Wentworth Falls, Blue Mountains, Australia, on October 29, 1987. She began her career in acting in 2004 while still living in Australia but has only risen to international prominence in the last few years. Coleman is currently best-known for playing the role of Erica in ‘The Last Man on Earth’, which is a post-apocalyptic comedy television series created by William Forte that is aired on Fox television network. The series is currently in its fourth season. Although she is becoming more famous, there are probably plenty of things that you do not know about this actress. Here are five things that you didn’t know about Cleopatra Coleman.

1. She Was Raised in an Alternative Community

Coleman had a rather unusual upbringing in Australia as she was raised in an alternative community on Byron Bay in New South Wales. Her father, Mick Coleman, is Australian while her mother, Turquoise Coleman, is Jamaican-born.

2. She Has Worked as a Professional Dancer

Cleopatra Coleman started her career in the entertainment industry with several small acting jobs, but she also worked as a professional dancer. This involved her performing in both theater productions and in television series. She was part of a dancing troupe called the Tony Bartuccio Dancers and with them, she appeared in ‘The Rocky Horror Stage Show’. She has also appeared as a dancer in ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and the 2005 ‘The Footy Show’ finale.

3. She Had a Recurring Role in the Australian Soap Opera ‘Neighbours’

After several years of working as an actress, in which time she had just a few small roles in television, she was cast as a recurring cast member of the popular Australian soap opera ‘Neighbours’ in 2006. She played the role of Glenn Forrest and appeared in 10 episodes of this television series between 2006 and 2007. This helped to increase awareness of her as an actress and led to many other acting jobs.

4. She Has Appeared in Three Music Videos

In addition to her stage and television career, Cleopatra Coleman has also appeared in three music videos. The first of these was in 2012 when she appeared in the music video for ‘You’re Never Gonna Love Again’ by Nervo. She then appeared in the music video for ‘Change Your Life’ by Far East Movement in the same year. Most recently, she was in the 2014 music video for Galantis’ ‘Runaway (U & I)’.

5. She Was in the Feature Film ‘Step Up: Revolution’

In 2012, Cleopatra Coleman played the role of DJ Penelope in the US feature film ‘Step Up Revolution’. This 3D dance movie was written by Amanda Brody and was directed by Scott Peer. The film is also known by the names ‘Step Up 4Ever’ and ‘Step Up 4: Miami Heat’. It starred Ryan Guzman, Kathryn McCormick, and Misha Gabriel. The film was well received by critics who gave it mostly positive reviews and it grossed $140.5 million at the worldwide box office from a budget of just $33 million.
