Five Predictions We’re Making About The 100 Season 6

Since it came along The 100 has been a very different type of show that’s thrived on giving the kind of post-apocalyptic view of a world that was driven to the brink by nuclear war and fallout and left to sort itself out of the mess. The story has been something that is able to grip just about anyone that happens to like this genre since it’s dealt with a very humanistic aspect from day one and the morality and ethical implications of one’s actions and beliefs that drive them to do the things they do. Now in its fifth season the various characters have drawn rather clear lines in the sand as the world they once fought over is now being left behind in favor of a new world where descendants of their race supposedly traveled to colonize a new home so that their species could survive. You can imagine that things might take on a similar appearance, but so far at this time the predictions are that it’s still going to be something we haven’t seen yet.

Here are just a few predictions about the highly anticipated season 6 of The 100.

5. Touching down on the new planet will be just as hazardous as it was on earth.

If you’ll remember back in season 1 there was no guarantee for those that had been jettisoned that the earth was still inhabitable. This was a forced expedition using those that were seen as expendable from the rest of the overburdened crew and therefore deemed as guinea pigs to see whether or not the earth could sustain life. What they found was something that was workable but at the same time they found that the inhabitants that had lived there for generations were less than willing to share. It could be the same way this time, but being that it’s not earth, a place they became familiar with, the old challenges could rise in new ways.

4. New relationships are going to emerge.

One that people seem to want to see is Bellamy and Clarke, though whether or not this will happen is anyone’s guess since the two have been close for a while but don’t seem to have really made any headway since they started acting friendly. The relationships in this show are somewhat complex at times and can be quite troublesome since the ideals and goals that many of the characters have tend to conflict with one another on such a regular basis that at any moment it seems as though people could find themselves on different sides of any given issue. But that being said there are some very strong bonds that have been created among some of the characters.

3. The leadership is going to be questionable.

Leadership in The 100 has been a constantly shifting thing since it either becomes completely authoritarian at times or it becomes a loose and fragmented thing that falls apart when different factions decide to question the veracity of the people they’re following. There have been some decent leaders in the course of the show but almost never has the idea of leadership been a concrete thing, so it doesn’t seem as though it’s bound to happen in the coming season given that the track record for such a thing is spotty at best. Maybe it’s better off this way however, as those that follow others usually seem to follow the strongest and band together over commonalities, not just singular rulers.

2. New enemies are going to present themselves eventually.

Okay so this is a gimme. There will always be someone in the show that’s going to disagree with the ideals and ways of those that we’ve come to grow used to and will present a new point of view that defies reason and consensus. But so far as we’ve seen it in the show this usually invites a new line of thinking and, sometimes, later on a sense of greater unity or at least understanding that allows those that start out as villains to be seen in a different light. Sometimes the bad guys aren’t really bad, and sometimes the good guys are the ones you need to watch out for.

1. The cycle is going to start over again, but this time with a great deal more at stake.

New planet, new problems, right? Not really, since humanity is bound by habit and will continue to sink back into those same habits considering that we don’t often know any better. This has been one of the driving points behind the show no matter how much has changed and who has developed into what type of person. Humanity always comes back to their habitual behaviors and it’s bound to be seen in the show that this will happen again if only because it’s a default method that acts as a comfort zone. But this time the comfort zone is bound to be stripped away and the struggle to survive will take on a new level of desperation.

General as some of these might be they seem safe enough to utter since The 100 isn’t a tricky show, but it is highly entertaining.
