Five of the Most Memorable TV Character Intros

if

Don’t misunderstand what we’re talking about here today .This isn’t about great TV show intros like the Dexter or Mad Men openings. Rather, we’re talking about the first time you meet a character on a show. These six were introduced for the first time in really memorable ways, even if we’ve grown to know and love them since. Apologies for not being able to find videos for all them, but such is the way of YouTube.

1. Jack Donaghy (30 Rock)

We’ve grown to love Jack over the years, but when we first met him, he made quite a big first impression. Liz comes into an office looking for “Gary.” Enter Jack, kicking down a wall “Gary’s dead.”

2. President Bartlet (The West Wing)

After being absent for most of the pilot, we finally see Bartlet come into the West Wing quoting scripture. “I am the Lord your God, thou shalt worship no other god before me.”

3. Desmond (Lost)

The entire montage of him getting ready inside the Hatch station was simply fantastic, and a really memorable way to introduce his character to the show. He would go on to be featured in some of the show’s best moments.

4. Frank (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia)

It’s hard to believe there was a time when Frank didn’t exist on the show, but the first time we met him he was telling Dee and Dennis their mother was dead, when really they were just getting a divorce.

5. Katherine (The Vampire Diaries)

(spoilers ahead)

We heard many things about the mythical “Katherine” on the show for an entire season, but it was only in the closing moments did we learn she’d arrived. As Elena’s twin, she was impossible to detect until she sliced off a character’s fingers and shocked us all. We had to wait months to see what happened next.
