Five Funny Slapstick “Frying Pan to the Face” Movie Scenes

A frying pan to the face in movies is usually good slapstick material or something that’s used a last resort when the fighting gets really intense. In any case it’s not just an implement used for cooking anymore. You can imagine how much a good smack to the face or the head region can cause a lot of hurt, but at least when used in a slapstick manner it doesn’t do a whole lot of damage, because then it might cease to be funny. The whole idea of using a frying pan as a weapon of any sort is to make it funny, unless of course the movie is a thriller.

Sometimes the clang of the pan is so loud you almost want to wince along with the characters.

5. Tangled

The tale of Rapunzel got a serious overhaul in this movie since there are a lot of things that differ from the original story. For one, her being a princess and her hair having magical qualities are two big differences. And the fact that she wields a frying pan better than some people handle a blade is also something that became a very big character quirk that people tended to like. Frying pans, who knew?

4. Throw Momma from the Train

This is why you don’t try to get someone to do your dirty work for you. Eventually at some point you’re going to have lie your butt off or get caught, and DeVito’s character isn’t that great of a liar so obviously he’s got to improvise. Of course it would help if he didn’t figure on using the frying pan when ad-libbing, but since his mother turned away after the clan of the pan it seems like it worked.

3. Madea’s Family Reunion

So this is more instructional really that anything since there’s no one getting a frying pan to the face. But Madea isn’t shy about instructing just how one would go about it. In her estimation you would throw a pot of something, whatever’s in the pot obviously, in the guy’s face and then club him with the skillet. That’s a healthy one-two punch that should flatten just about anyone really.

2. Kung Fu Panda 3

In the third installment of Kung Fu Panda Po finally gets to meet his dad and has to find a way to restore the pandas to their original glory while at the same time trying to stave off the rampaging Kai, who’s after the chi that the pandas possess. When his master Shifu comes under Kai’s sway though Po can’t bring himself to fight him, but his dads can without a moment’s hesitation.

1. UHF

Does anyone remember that Weird Al Yankovic tried his hand at making a movie and kind of bombed out? The guy has always been great on the music scene but this movie met a lot of mixed reviews and didn’t hold too well in the public memory. Of course I couldn’t help but cheer when the Bobo the clown takes a frying pan to the face.

Uh oh! Bobo fall down go boom! Good stuff.
