There’s no doubt that some of those in Hollywood have built their reputations in very successful ways but there are those that have managed to ruin their careers in far less time than it took to build them up. A-list actors are those that people want to see, that can do no wrong most of the time, and that will draw a crowd, while D-list actors tend to be those that bank on the fame they used to have but likely won’t have anytime soon. It’s kind of sad to watch some of the most famous individuals in history go down in flames in such a manner since you have to wonder just how it happened and why the stars allowed it to happen in the first place. There’s always a reason no matter if it’s the reason that’s given or the convenient lie that people want to believe. One way or another the A-listers do tend to fall when they aren’t being careful enough to secure their careers.
Here are some former A-listers that will likely be stuck as D-listers for the rest of their careers.
5. Demi Moore
Demi Moore was at one time considered to be one of the hottest actresses on the planet and also one of the most popular. In fact if you really want an honest opinion she still was up until she did the movie Striptease, which seemed to strike a lethal blow to her career as she continued to sink down and down until the only thing that managed to keep her head above water was starring in Mr. Brooks with Kevin Costner. Even that was only a bump that allowed her to be seen in something that got at least a little bit of attention for a short time. Apart from that the only real media attention she’s gotten was when she married and then divorced Ashton Kutcher.
4. Lindsay Lohan
She was one of America’s darlings for quite some time since the remake of the Parent Trap and Herbie: Fully Loaded were her big claims to fame for a while. Then she started getting into trouble, and then more trouble, and then more trouble, and things really started hitting the skids. Her movie career took a dive, her reputation took a dive, and her antics in and out of court began to stain her reputation in a way that didn’t seem possible to survive when it came to Hollywood. She’s been trying to make a comeback and even seems to want to step in as Batwoman to try and revive her career, but at this point Mean Girls and her role in Machete seem to have been her last successful attempts at salvaging what was left of her career.
3. Shia LaBeouf
When you talk about meltdowns both on and off camera a lot of people, if they still remember him, will likely think about Shia La Beouf largely because in almost every role he ever played he was prone to yelling at one point or another. In Transformers that seemed to be half of his dialogue and got a bit annoying after a while. But after being cast in the most recent Indiana Jones movie things really started falling apart since after that it wasn’t too much longer until he started acting erratically and almost disappeared from the public eye for a while. If he ever comes back, and that’s a big ‘if’, it’s likely going to be a way to relive the glory days and act as a guest star or act in a film that’s not meant to be that big of a deal.
2. Katherine Heigl
This is a woman that seemed intent on burning bridges all around no matter where she went. It’s one thing to not let anyone take advantage of you and be hard-edged in the business, but actively ticking people off and then acting as though she had every right in the world to do so isn’t exactly the way you maintain good relations with others. Her infamous feud with showrunner Shonda Rhimes didn’t end well at all since when Heigl announced that she’d love to go back to her roots and star in Grey’s Anatomy again Shonda politely but firmly shut the door on those aspirations, which has forced Heigl to do the best she can with what she has left.
1. Charlie Sheen
At this point Charlie Sheen could warrant his own novel just talking about how his career went from a high point to lower than anyone on this list. It’s not just the HIV issue that has set him so far down the list, it’s the fact that he’s been a rather difficult person to work with and to be around for so long and yet seems content to laud himself as one of the greatest people in existence and insist that he’s ‘winning’ at whatever he does. From this angle winning doesn’t look all that appealing.
When A-listers turn into D-listers it’s a sad day to be honest, but there’s always a reason for it.
