It has been several weeks since we at TVOvermind began our lists of the greatest TV couples in each decade. It takes time to watch so many different television shows and try to pick the best couples of all time. Last time we looked back to the 2000s and picked four awesome and loving couples. If you have not had a chance to check out who made the cut, you can view the article by clicking here . Now we have finally made it to the current decade. After much deliberation, we have finally decided who we thought were the five greatest couples of the past five years. One of the couples is a football coach and his loving wife, while another works together to solve crimes. And for the first time since we started picking our favorite couples, we have a relationship between two females. Here are our picks for the best TV couples of the 2010s.
Santana Lopez and Brittany Pierce from Glee
Many people would think that Kurt and Blaine were one of the best TV couples from Glee, but clearly Santana and Brittany are the better pick. When Glee debuted in 2009, Santana was dating Puck while Brittany was known for having messed around with every boy in school. They were finally able to reveal their relationship in the fourth episode of the third season. When Santana went off to college, she thought it best that the two break up and see who else there was in the world. Brittany found solace in Sam, while Santana had a serious relationship with Dani while living in New York. However, the two could not forget one another and would eventually get engaged at the start of Season 6. Brittany was successful in bringing Santana and her grandmother back together, after Santana’s abuela kicked her out of her life based on her orientation. Brittany and Santana tied the knot, along with Kurt and Blaine during the sixth and final season of Glee.
Seeley Booth and Temperance Brennan from Bones
Seeley Booth and Temperance Brennan from Bones have been working together solving murders in Washington D.C. since 2005. Even back then, we knew they were destined to be one of our favorite TV couples. The two always had such great chemistry that even their co-workers were rooting for them to finally get together. It was not until the third season that viewers were able to see Booth and Brennan kiss under the mistletoe. It would not be for another three seasons until Brennan would announce to Booth that she was pregnant. The look on his face when she announces this is priceless. It would take nine years of rooting for this awesome couple to see them finally walk down the aisle. We at TVOvermind voted this moment as one of the best of 2013. Though it has not been revealed on the show yet, Emily Deschanel is pregnant with her second child. Series creator Hart Hanson says the pregnancy will be written into the show.
Eric and Tami Taylor from Friday Night Lights
Eric and Tami Taylor were a contender for one of the best TV couples of the previous decade; however, we at TVOvermind thought their relationship flourished even more during Friday Night Lights‘ fourth and fifth seasons, which aired in 2010 and 2011. The Taylors had to overcome many obstacles in the their relationship, including raising a teenage daughter and having another one later in life. At the conclusion of Season 3, it was revealed that Coach Taylor would be fired from the Dillon Panthers. Luckily, the school board decided to reopen Dillon East High School, and he was hired to start up the program there. During Season 4, Tami was promoted to Principal at Dillon High. She would be forced to vacate that position after it was believed she told a high school student to terminate her pregnancy. Through it all, Eric and Tami stuck it out together. When Tami is offered the Dean of Admissions position at Braemore College, Eric decided that since his wife has done so much for him that it was his turn to return the favor, getting a new job as a high school football coach in Philadelphia.
Brad Williams and Jane Kerkovich-Williams from Happy Endings
Brad and Jane from Happy Endings have often been compared to one of the 1990s TV couples that made our list. That couple is Chandler and Monica from Friends. Brad is like Chandler in that he is the jokester amongst his group of friends. He also ends up being unemployed for a short time just like Chandler. Jane has the same Type-A personality that Monica possessed on Friends. Put this combination together and you once again have one of the greatest TV couples. Jane was supportive when Brad was looking for work, and he was completely on board with her quitting her job to become a car salesman. Remember when Brad lied about going to Michigan so he could just chill in Chicago, and Jane did not tell him that her college friend was unable to visit so she could be home alone? In the end, they forgave one another for their lies and kept the audience laughing while doing it.
Phil and Claire Dunphy from Modern Family
Phil and Claire from Modern Family have been together for over 20 years, and they are one of our favorite TV couples from this decade. Some may wonder why the two are together. Like Jane, Claire is a Type-A personality. Everything needs to be perfect in her life. Phil is the complete opposite. He would rather be best friends with his kids than have to discipline them. Why would he ever need to with Claire around grounding them every week? They say opposites attract, and they certainly do with this TV couple. Phil and Claire still manage to add some spice to their love life. On Valentine’s Day, they can often be found at a local hotel bar under the aliases of Clive Bixby and Julianna.

My favorite couple was and has to be PATRICK JANE. AND TERESA LISBON.
I agree! I feel sad that the show has ended but at least we got DVDs so we can re-live the awesomeness. Though Kate Beckett and Richard Castle are great too. #JustSaying =)
